Kevin Durant just won his first NBA title, and the Finals MVP award. When he left OKC a year ago, he faced scrutiny and criticism from everyone. But those who listened to his interview in 2014, can say that he hinted at leaving sooner.
In a 2014 interview with ESPN, Kevin Durant says he is “tired of being second”. He wanted to be the best, and he couldn’t do it in OKC. Some will say he didn’t have enough support there. And you cannot blame him. The roster of Golden State is much better than the one in OKC.
And it is not like Durant was a side player in the playoffs and Finals. He was the Warriors best player. Durant was widely considered the best scorer for the past few years. But he was not the best player. Some might say he is still not. But in the playoffs, Durant showed he is a two-way player, and that his defense is underrated.
Listen to what he has to say, and how he might have predicted leaving OKC.
