The cast of The Real World: San Francisco went in eight different directions. Pam Ling became a UCSF professor and tobacco-control researcher; Judd Winick became a cartoonist and author; Mohammed Bilal now works in higher education; Rachel Campos-Duffy became a Fox News host; and David “Puck” Rainey has reportedly resurfaced in Arizona. Pedro Zamora died in 1994, while current public information about Cory Murphy and Joanna “Jo” Rhodes remains limited.
This update reflects publicly available information checked through August 8, 2026. The season had eight cast members in total—not seven—because Jo Rhodes replaced Puck after his removal from the house.
The original cast of The Real World: San Francisco
The 1994 season originally featured Pedro Zamora, Rachel Campos, Cory Murphy, Pam Ling, Mohammed Bilal, Judd Winick and David “Puck” Rainey. After Puck was removed, Joanna “Jo” Rhodes joined the cast, bringing the total number of housemates to eight.

Pedro Zamora died in Miami on November 11, 1994, at age 22, from an AIDS-related illness. His death came the morning after the season finale aired. In a statement, President Bill Clinton mourned Zamora and credited his television work with helping educate Americans about HIV/AIDS. The presidential statement is archived online.

Zamora’s influence continues through HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ remembrance initiatives. The National AIDS Memorial operates the Pedro Zamora Young Leaders Scholarship, and Zamora is listed among the honorees of the National LGBTQ Wall of Honor.
His partner, Sean Sasser, died on August 7, 2013, at age 44, from mesothelioma. Sasser was not a full-time housemate, but he appeared prominently on the season, including during the televised commitment ceremony with Zamora. The Washington Post reported on Sasser’s death.
Pam Ling
Pam Ling is now a physician, professor and public-health researcher. She is a Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, and directs the UCSF Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education. Her work includes tobacco marketing, tobacco-industry strategies, novel tobacco products, smoking cessation and youth tobacco use. Her UCSF profile lists her clinical practice as general internal medicine.

Although Ling is sometimes described as an HIV/AIDS researcher because of her connection to Zamora’s story and legacy, her current UCSF appointment is primarily focused on tobacco control and public-health research.

Judd Winick
Judd Winick remains a cartoonist and author. His current publishing identity is most closely associated with Hilo, his children’s graphic-novel series. Publisher biographies also identify him as the creator of The Adventures of Barry Ween, Boy Genius. Macmillan’s author page and Penguin Random House’s biography outline his work.
Winick also wrote Pedro and Me: Friendship, Loss, and What I Learned, a graphic memoir about Zamora, their friendship and the aftermath of the season. He and Ling continue to be publicly identified as married.

Mohammed Bilal
Mohammed Bilal now uses the professional name Mohammed Soriano-Bilal. As of 2026, the University of San Francisco lists him as Assistant Dean, Retention and Persistence Programs, and as an Academic Success Coach. The official USF profile says he began working there in 2025.
His listed interests include inclusive excellence, intergroup dialogue, hip-hop culture, coaching and student development. The same profile confirms his reality-television background and identifies his band as Midnight Voices, which was signed to Sony Music. It also says he has performed with Mos Def, Santana and Michael Franti.

Older updates sometimes identify Bilal as a Stanford University diversity official. That is not his current institutional listing: the most recent verified profile places him at the University of San Francisco.

Rachel Campos-Duffy
Rachel Campos is now Rachel Campos-Duffy. She is a co-host of FOX & Friends Weekend, which Fox News lists as airing weekends from 6 to 10 a.m. Eastern Time. Fox News identifies her as an author, television personality and commentator.
In 2024, she helped launch FOX Noticias, Fox News Media’s Spanish-language newscast. She is married to Sean Duffy, a former cast member of The Real World: Boston, and Fox News describes her as the mother of nine children. Fox News announced her FOX & Friends Weekend role here.
Campos-Duffy’s public career has changed substantially since the San Francisco season. The “young Republican” description used in early coverage is now incomplete: she is a nationally visible conservative commentator and television host.
Cory Murphy
Cory Murphy is the least publicly documented surviving housemate. Retrospective reports have described her as a middle-school teacher in Southern California, but no current school, district or professional profile was located to confirm that this remains her occupation or that she still lives there.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.David “Puck” Rainey
David “Puck” Rainey was the original housemate removed during the season and was replaced by Jo Rhodes.
The latest substantial report located, published by Parade in January 2026, places Rainey in Oak Creek, Arizona, and says he launched a farm-to-table cooking channel on TikTok and YouTube. The report also says he declined a reported $650,000 offer to participate in a Real World “Homecoming” production. These details should be attributed to Parade: no official personal website, current employer profile or direct statement independently corroborating them was located. Read the report at Parade.
Older articles that placed Rainey in the Los Angeles area or described him as a makeup artist reflect earlier points in his life, not necessarily his current status. ABC News published one such earlier update.
Joanna “Jo” Rhodes
Joanna “Jo” Rhodes joined the cast after Puck’s removal. She was originally from London and was living in Lake Tahoe before entering the San Francisco house. She later appeared on The Challenge: The Gauntlet 2. Reality TV World’s cast history records those appearances.
No reliable, current public source confirms Rhodes’s present residence, occupation, marital status or ongoing public activities as of August 2026. Search results for people named Jo, Joan or Joana Rhodes should not automatically be attributed to the MTV cast member; a LinkedIn listing, for example, does not establish that identity.
