The web service is still available through SamsungTVPlus.com, but it is not a downloadable app for every television platform, and its channel lineup depends on location.
What changed when Samsung TV Plus came to the web?
Samsung TV Plus did not begin as a new streaming brand in 2021. It was already available as a service built into Samsung smart TVs, with a mobile app for Galaxy devices. The change was that viewers could also open a website and stream in a browser, removing the requirement to own Samsung hardware.
TV Plus is a free ad-supported streaming television service, often shortened to FAST. It combines scheduled, linear channels with some on-demand movies and shows. That makes it closer to a free streaming-TV channel guide than to a subscription service where every title is available on demand.
When did the web version launch?
The browser version appeared in a soft launch around May 2021. Engadget reported its web availability on July 9, 2021, and Samsung later confirmed to Android Authority that the rollout took place in the second quarter of that year. Contemporary coverage described the launch as low-profile rather than a major public announcement. Engadget’s July 2021 report and Android Authority’s account of Samsung’s confirmation document the timing.

“Quietly” describes that original rollout, not the service’s present visibility. Samsung now lists browser viewing on its U.S. TV Plus page. The web launch was an expansion of access, not the debut of TV Plus itself.
How to watch Samsung TV Plus today
In a web browser
- Open a supported browser on a computer or mobile device.
- Visit SamsungTVPlus.com.
- Choose a live channel or an available on-demand title and start watching.
- Sign in with a Samsung account only if you want account-linked features such as favorites, reminders, watch lists, channel editing, or continue watching.
Samsung says basic web viewing does not require an account in the U.S. However, its public materials do not provide a universal compatibility list for every browser, smart-TV browser, or game-console browser, so access can vary by device.

On Samsung TVs and projectors
On supported Samsung televisions and projectors, open the Samsung TV Plus app from the TV’s app bar. Some models may start TV Plus automatically at startup or when you leave another app. To turn that behavior off, Samsung lists Settings → General → Smart Features → Autorun Samsung TV Plus; menu wording can differ by model and software version. See Samsung’s support instructions.
On Galaxy devices
Samsung directs Galaxy users to install the mobile app through the Galaxy Store or Google Play. Availability depends on the device, operating-system version, and region; a Galaxy app is a separate access route from the browser service.

Is Samsung TV Plus free?
Yes. Samsung describes TV Plus as free and ad-supported, with no subscription fee or credit card required for ordinary viewing in the U.S. “Free” means viewers see advertising, and an internet connection is required. Mobile data charges may apply. Samsung also warns that features and quality can vary with device, bandwidth, and location, and that channels may change or disappear without notice. Its U.S. support page sets out these conditions.
Where is it available, and what can viewers expect?
Web access does not mean worldwide access. Samsung’s terms limit use to places where the service and particular content are offered, and the catalog differs by market. The U.S. terms describe those geographic limits. A channel mentioned in an older article may no longer be available: Samsung says channel lineups can change without notice.

Current figures should not be confused with launch-era channel counts. In an April 2025 announcement, Samsung said its U.S. service had nearly 700 channels; in January 2026, the company reported more than 4,300 ad-supported linear channels across 30 countries and over 100 million monthly active users globally. These are Samsung-reported company figures, not independently audited measurements. The global total is not a promise that every country, or the web version in every market, has the same channels. See Samsung’s April 2025 U.S. figures and January 2026 global figures.

- It opened another way to watch. People without Samsung hardware gained a browser route in supported markets.
- It did not create a native app for every TV platform. The 2021 expansion was browser access; it does not establish that Roku, Fire TV, Google TV, or every smart-TV operating system has a TV Plus app.
- It is not an ad-free subscription. TV Plus is funded by advertising rather than a conventional monthly subscription.
- It is not an unrestricted on-demand library. It offers both linear channels and some on-demand programming, but viewers should not expect every show or film to be available whenever they want it.
- It does not guarantee identical experiences across devices. Content, features, and quality may vary by region, device, and connection.
Why the browser launch mattered
Moving TV Plus onto the web broadened Samsung’s potential audience beyond owners of its televisions and phones. A shareable URL also made the service easier to discover and try than a device-specific app. That wider reach fits the economics of free, ad-supported television: more viewers can mean more opportunities to distribute programming and sell advertising.

Samsung has continued to develop the service since the initial web rollout. It announced a redesigned, more personalized TV Plus experience in August 2025, a separate change from the 2021 browser launch. In later company announcements, Samsung highlighted the platform’s audience and channel scale as well as its value to advertisers and content partners. Those figures and claims are Samsung’s own. Quick Recap
Who is Samsung TV Plus a good fit for?
- Worth trying: viewers who want free live channels, are comfortable with ads, or want to sample a streaming service in a browser without buying Samsung hardware.
- Less suitable: viewers who want ad-free playback, a fixed channel lineup, guaranteed access outside supported markets, or a deep library of current premium series available on demand.
