Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallCrashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteIf a local video should repeat indefinitely, put FFmpeg’s -stream_loop -1 option before the -i for that file. For example: -stream_loop -1 -i input.mp4. If FFmpeg still stops, the cause may instead be a finite audio input, a duration limit, an output or connection error, or something terminating the process. The command and complete log are needed to distinguish those cases.
Loop the local video input
FFmpeg documents -stream_loop as an input option: “Set number of times input stream shall be looped. Loop 0 means no loop, loop -1 means infinite loop.” See the FFmpeg command-line documentation. Put the option before the input it controls:
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i input.mp4
-c:v libx264 -c:a aac
-f flv "rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2/STREAM_KEY"
This is a pattern, not a tested command or a guarantee that these settings fit every file or YouTube setup. Choose an encoding or stream-copy approach appropriate to the media, confirm it supplies the audio and video streams your workflow expects, and check the current destination setup in YouTube Studio. Replace the example destination with the ingest details shown for your stream, and keep the stream key private.
Check option placement and input scope
- Identify every
-iin the command. Put-stream_loop -1before the-ifor the file that should repeat; putting it after that input does not configure it retroactively. - If video and audio are separate inputs, decide whether each should repeat. The video input’s loop setting does not automatically make a separate finite audio file endless.
-stream_loop 0means no looping;-stream_loop -1means infinite input looping.
Find out what actually stopped
“YouTube stops” does not establish that YouTube ended the FFmpeg process. FFmpeg may have exited, failed to write to the destination, been stopped by a shell or process manager, or lost a host that went to sleep or shut down. YouTube Studio may also show a platform-side state distinct from the process status.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Check whether FFmpeg is still running. If it exited, capture the complete terminal output from startup through exit. Look for an end-of-file message, a destination or write error, or a timestamp showing when the process ended.
- Inspect the whole command. Check for output duration limits such as
-tor-to. FFmpeg documents-tas stopping output after the specified duration. Review any wrapper script, scheduled task, shell, or process supervisor that could also stop it. - Check the host. Confirm the computer or server remained awake and connected for the entire run.
- Check YouTube Studio separately. Confirm the stream’s current status and destination configuration there. Do not infer a specific YouTube limit or required flag from the symptom alone.
To diagnose a specific failure, share the exact command with the stream key redacted, the FFmpeg version, and the complete output through the exit. The input formats, audio arrangement, process supervisor, and Studio status can all change the diagnosis.
Check separate audio and output-ending options
A looping video does not prevent a shorter, separate audio input from ending the output. Check the duration and loop behavior of every input, as well as options that control when output ends.

- If the command uses
-shortest, FFmpeg stops output when the shortest input ends. A finite audio file can therefore end a stream while video is set to loop. - If the video has no audio but the workflow expects audio, check whether the command supplies a suitable audio stream. A specialist YouTube Live tutorial discusses using generated silent audio for a video-only source and cautions against
-shortestin its infinite-input example; that is tutorial guidance, not an official YouTube rule. See the tutorial. - When there are separate audio and video inputs, verify that both are intended to run indefinitely or that their durations and ending behavior match the desired broadcast.
Do not confuse HTTP input reconnects with looping or RTMP publishing retries
FFmpeg’s reconnect, reconnect_at_eof, and reconnect_on_network_error options concern HTTP protocol input behavior. The FFmpeg protocol documentation says reconnect_at_eof treats EOF as an error and can be useful for live or endless streams. These options may help when FFmpeg is reading an HTTP stream that disconnects. They do not loop a local MP4 and do not, by themselves, guarantee recovery of a failed RTMP publishing connection.
Investigate long-run issues only if FFmpeg remains alive
If the process is still running but viewers see buffering, audio drift, timestamp warnings, or a visible seam when the video repeats, that is a different problem from FFmpeg exiting after one pass. Check the media, encoding compatibility, timestamps, audio/video duration alignment, network stability, and process supervision against the actual logs.
