Rolling Stone describes Glinda’s number as a reflective ballad about questioning what lies beneath the surface. Director Jon M. Chu explains the character’s turning point: “Glinda is the one that has to ultimately pop her own bubble. She has to leave her privilege to actually see other people’s struggles and fight for justice and equality.”
“No Place Like Home”
Rolling Stone characterizes Elphaba’s song as an anthemic ballad in which she questions her kinship with Oz. Chu described the purpose of both new songs this way: “Both of these songs are about how to do that, and it’s questions that I’ve always wanted to hear from them in the stage show, but never got to.”

The soundtrack was released digitally and in physical formats on November 21, 2025, the date Universal Music Canada said coincided with the film’s worldwide theatrical debut. Its listed formats include CD, double vinyl and a limited picture disc: Universal Music Canada’s release announcement.
