Yes—Apple Music still lists a 13-minute concert-film replay of Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX halftime show, presented in Spatial Audio. The performance, which took place on February 9, 2025, features SZA and is also available as an official free replay from the NFL on YouTube.
Apple’s version may sound more spacious and immersive than a television or standard online replay on compatible equipment, but “better-sounding” is not a verified technical measurement. It is a different Dolby Atmos presentation, not automatically a remaster, remix, or lossless version.
What Apple Music added
The Apple Music release is titled Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show. It is a 13-minute concert film, rather than an audio-only album or ordinary song. The catalog listing identifies Kendrick Lamar and SZA, dates the release to 2025, and labels it PG.

Apple’s listing describes the film as a Spatial Audio presentation. Its public metadata also shows stereo and Dolby 5.1 audio, so the exact options visible to a viewer may depend on the device, app, catalog region, and playback chain.
Is Apple Music’s version actually better?
That depends on what you are comparing and how you listen. Apple confirms the Spatial Audio positioning, but it does not publish the source recording, mix engineer, mastering details, loudness measurements, dynamic-range measurements, or a statement that the broadcast audio was corrected or replaced.
It is therefore not accurate to claim that Apple:
- removed clipping from the television broadcast;
- re-recorded the performance;
- fixed the original broadcast mix;
- created a remaster or remix; or
- made a lossless, higher-resolution version.
The defensible conclusion is narrower: Apple offers an alternate immersive presentation that may sound wider, more spacious, or better balanced than a viewer’s television or ordinary streaming replay. Some listeners will prefer it; others may find stereo more focused or natural. The experience depends heavily on the playback system and personal taste.
TechCrunch reported that the replay was intended to provide a surround-sound-like experience, but that coverage is not a controlled comparison or proof of universal sonic superiority.
Spatial Audio, Dolby Atmos, and lossless are different things
Apple Music uses Dolby Atmos for supported Spatial Audio content. The terms describe different aspects of playback:

- Block the World, Keep the Music: Four built-in mics work together to filter out background noise — whether you're in a packed office, on a crowded commute, or moving through a busy street — so every beat comes through clean and clear. (Not available in AUX-in mode.)
- Two Ways to Hear More: BassUp technology delivers deep, punchy bass and crisp highs in wireless mode — then step it up further by plugging in the included AUX cable to unlock Hi‑Res certified audio for studio-level clarity.
- 40 Hours. 5-Minute Top-Up: With ANC on, a single charge keeps you listening through days of commutes and long-haul flights. Running low? Just 5 minutes plugged in gives you 4 more hours — so you're never stuck waiting.
- Two Devices, Zero Hassle: Stay connected to your laptop and phone at the same time. Audio switches automatically to whichever device needs you — so a call never interrupts your flow, and getting back to your playlist is just as easy. Designed for commuters and remote workers who move smoothly between work and personal listening throughout the day.
- Your Sound, Your Rules: The soundcore app puts everything at your fingertips — dials your ideal EQ with presets or build your own, flip between ANC, Normal, and Transparency modes on the fly, or wind down with built-in white noise. One app, total control.
| Format or feature | What it means |
|---|---|
| Stereo | A conventional left-and-right presentation. |
| 5.1 surround | Five main speaker channels plus a low-frequency-effects channel. |
| Dolby Atmos | An immersive format that can position sounds around and above the listener, depending on the equipment. |
| Head-tracked Spatial Audio | A device feature that can make the soundstage appear anchored as you move your head. |
| Lossless | A separate compression and fidelity setting, not an indication that audio is immersive. |
Head tracking is optional. You can hear a Dolby Atmos presentation without it. Conversely, head tracking does not automatically make the underlying mix better. Apple also notes that Bluetooth connections do not support lossless audio, but compatible Bluetooth headphones can still reproduce supported Dolby Atmos content. See Apple’s explanations of Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos and lossless audio.
Where to watch the halftime show
The primary destination is the Apple Music catalog listing. Apple also lists the program through Apple TV in at least some regions, including this United Kingdom listing.

How to enable Dolby Atmos
iPhone and iPad
- Update iOS or iPadOS to the latest available version.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps, then Music.
- Under Audio, tap Dolby Atmos.
- Choose Automatic or Always On.
Automatic works with compatible Apple or Beats headphones, many Bluetooth headphones, and certain built-in speakers. If you are using wired headphones and Atmos does not activate, try Always On. Apple’s current iPhone guidance is available at Settings > Apps > Music > Dolby Atmos.

Mac
- Open the Music app.

Supported content should show a Dolby icon in the Music app and in the playback controls. Apple documents the Mac process in its Spatial Audio playback guide.

An Apple TV 4K does not guarantee Atmos by itself. Apple says it must be connected to a compatible output, such as HomePod speakers configured as the default speakers, a Dolby Atmos soundbar, an Atmos-capable AV receiver, or a television that supports Dolby Atmos. Compatible Apple or Beats Bluetooth headphones are another option.
The television, soundbar or receiver, and HDMI connection must all cooperate correctly. If one part of the chain is incompatible, playback may fall back to stereo or 5.1.
Android
Apple Music supports Dolby Atmos on Android devices that support Dolby Atmos, but compatibility is device-specific. Check the manufacturer’s specifications rather than assuming every Android phone or tablet can play the Atmos presentation.
Windows
Windows users can stream supported content in the Apple Music app. During playback, use the Dolby Atmos icon in the playback controls to turn the format on or off, where available.

Do you need AirPods or expensive equipment?
No. AirPods are not a requirement. Apple says supported Dolby Atmos material can work with compatible Apple or Beats headphones and many other Bluetooth headphones, although behavior varies by device and settings.
- Compatible headphones: The simplest and most reliable way to hear the immersive presentation.
- Built-in phone or laptop speakers: Convenient, but limited in bass, scale, and physical envelopment.
- Atmos soundbar: A practical living-room option if the TV and connection support Atmos.
- AV receiver and speaker system: Offers the greatest potential scale, but costs more and requires more setup.
Buying a more expensive pair of headphones does not guarantee a better mix. The main benefit of Apple or Beats models is straightforward compatibility and automatic behavior, not a promise of superior sound.
Apple Music versus the NFL’s free YouTube replay
| Apple Music | NFL YouTube | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Requires catalog access or an eligible trial. | Free to watch. |
| Video | 13-minute concert-film presentation. | Official public replay. |
| Audio focus | Spatial Audio/Dolby Atmos presentation where supported. | Playback depends on YouTube and the viewer’s device. |
| Best for | Existing subscribers with compatible headphones or Atmos equipment. | Viewers who want convenience without a subscription. |
If you already subscribe to Apple Music and have compatible headphones, the Apple version is worth trying. If you would subscribe solely for one 13-minute performance, the NFL replay is the more sensible option.
Do you need an Apple Music subscription?
Check the Apple Music listing in your country before signing up. Trials, promotional offers, catalog access, and prices can change.
For the U.S. page, the prominent plan cards viewed on August 18, 2026 showed three months for $1.99 and then $11.99 per month for Individual, three months for $4.99 and then $19.99 per month for Family, and $6.99 per month for Student with the first month free for new subscribers. The same page also contained an older-looking $10.99 Individual-plan figure in its FAQ, so confirm the final price at checkout.
What to do if the Dolby Atmos badge is missing
- Start the video rather than relying only on catalog metadata.
- Check the Now Playing screen or playback controls for the Dolby icon.
- On iPhone or iPad, open Settings > Apps > Music > Dolby Atmos.
- Try Always On if you are using wired headphones.
- Update the Apple Music app and your operating system.
- Try compatible headphones connected directly to the device.
- On Apple TV, verify Atmos support across the TV, soundbar or receiver, HDMI path, and speakers.
- If the listing is unavailable, search the title in your local catalog; regional assets may differ.
A missing badge may mean the item or region is serving a different asset, Atmos is disabled, the device is unsupported, or the output has fallen back to stereo or 5.1. Do not confuse a catalog label with confirmation of the format currently reaching your speakers.
