Apple launched Apple Música Uno, Apple Music Club and Apple Music Chill on December 10, 2024, expanding its live-radio lineup from three stations to six. The additions give listeners dedicated destinations for Latin music and culture, dance and electronic music, and ambient or reflective listening. Apple says its radio stations are free to hear without an Apple Music subscription.
What are Apple Music’s three new live radio stations?
The stations are part of Apple Music Radio, alongside Apple Music 1, Apple Music Hits and Apple Music Country. Each has a distinct musical focus and a programming approach built around hosts, artists and curated shows.
Apple Música Uno: Latin music and culture
Apple Música Uno centers Latin music and culture. Its programming is tied to artists including Becky G, Rauw Alejandro and Grupo Frontera, connecting a broad range of Latin sounds with artist-led perspectives.
Apple Music Club: dance and electronic music
Apple Music Club focuses on dance and electronic music. Its shows and contributions include those from Honey Dijon, Jamie xx, FKA twigs and Nia Archives.

Apple Music Chill: ambient and reflective listening
Apple Music Chill is for ambient, calm and reflective listening, with contributions from Brian Eno and Stephan Moccio. Apple also said the station would premiere Beck’s new recording of George Harrison’s “Be Here Now,” giving the channel a role beyond continuous background music.
How Apple’s radio approach differs from Spotify’s
The distinction Apple is emphasizing is editorial rather than a proven overall superiority in music discovery. Its live stations foreground human hosts, artist-led shows, interviews and premieres. Spotify, by contrast, has highlighted algorithmic personalization and AI features such as AI DJ.

A January 2025 Los Angeles Times analysis described Apple’s radio strategy as a human-curation contrast to Spotify’s more algorithmic positioning, including debate around AI-related promotion for Wrapped. That is a useful way to understand the companies’ respective pitches, not a universal verdict about which service offers better recommendations or music.

Can you listen to Apple Music radio without a subscription?
Yes. Apple says listeners can hear its live Apple Music Radio stations free without subscribing to Apple Music. That free radio access is distinct from the wider Apple Music catalog, which Apple said had more than 100 million songs in its June 2025 tenth-anniversary announcement.
Access also expanded beyond Apple’s own app: reporting in August 2025 said all six live Apple Music Radio stations became available through TuneIn. That gives listeners another route to the stations, although the cited information does not specify every device or region where TuneIn access is available.

Why the launch matters for music culture
These stations make a case for radio as a form of cultural programming, not just a way to play songs. Música Uno and Club frame their genres through artists and hosts; Chill pairs a defined mood with contributions and an announced premiere. Apple vice president of Music, Sports, and Beats Oliver Schusser described Apple Music Radio as “the beating heart of our service,” at the intersection of human voices, curation and technology.
For listeners choosing between streaming services, the practical question is whether they want a scheduled, hosted experience alongside on-demand listening. The three additions strengthen Apple’s offer for people who value presenters, artist perspectives and premieres, while Spotify’s cited positioning puts more emphasis on personalized and AI-assisted listening.
