The Sahrwai people are people living in the western part of the Sahara desert, including southern Morocco, most of Mauritania, the extreme southwest of Algeria, and Western Sahara.

The region is considered one of the most hostile regions to human life. Western Sahara is the last remaining colony in Africa still waiting for its independence.

This documentary takes a look at the Saharawi struggle for freedom. As of 2018, the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic has been recognized by 85 states. While the country is not recognized by the United Nations, it has full membership of the African Union.
