No verified evidence in the supplied reporting shows that YouTube TV is set to lose Fox channels this week in 2026. The widely shared warning refers to a carriage dispute from August 2025. YouTube TV set a deadline of 5 p.m. Eastern on August 27, 2025, but the companies reached an extension and later renewed coverage of Fox’s portfolio.
That does not make future carriage disputes impossible. It does mean subscribers should check the date and details of any alert before canceling YouTube TV or paying for a replacement.
The Fox blackout warning was in August 2025
YouTube TV warned subscribers on August 25, 2025, that Fox channels could be removed if the companies failed to reach a new agreement. The stated deadline was 5 p.m. ET on August 27, 2025. Axios reported the original warning, while The Associated Press reported the subsequent extension.

YouTube TV said Fox was seeking payments it considered substantially higher than comparable content offerings. Fox, in turn, accused Google of proposing terms that were out of step with the market. Those were opposing company claims, not independently established findings.
What happened after the deadline?
The deadline passed without an immediate blackout. The companies agreed to a short-term extension, keeping Fox programming available while negotiations continued.
Later trade coverage reported that YouTube TV and Fox renewed an agreement covering the full Fox portfolio. That coverage listed Fox News, Fox Business, Fox Weather, Fox Sports, FS1, FS2, Fox Deportes, Big Ten Network, the Fox broadcast network and local Fox stations. Financial terms were not disclosed. See TV Technology’s report on the renewal.

In other words, the 2025 warning was not followed by the immediate, broad blackout described in many recycled headlines.
Is there a new Fox–YouTube TV dispute in 2026?
The supplied reporting confirms the 2025 dispute and its resolution, but does not establish a new August 2026 blackout threat. A current claim should therefore be treated as unverified unless it is supported by:
- A dated notice from YouTube TV sent to subscribers;
- A current statement or “keep Fox” campaign from Fox;
- A specific contract-expiration date and blackout deadline; and
- Confirmation that the report concerns YouTube TV’s agreement with Fox, rather than another distributor or Fox streaming product.
Check the publication date of social-media posts and search results carefully. Football-season coverage from August 2025 can look current when it is reposted without its year.
Which channels could be affected by a future dispute?
“Fox channels” is not one single service. A future notice could cover some or all of these networks:
- The local Fox broadcast station: availability depends on the subscriber’s ZIP code and television market.
- Fox News Channel
- Fox Business Network
- Fox Sports
- FS1 and FS2
- Fox Deportes
- Fox Weather
- Big Ten Network
Do not assume that every Fox-branded channel is covered by identical contractual terms. YouTube TV says channel availability varies by home location. Use its official ZIP-code channel-availability guidance and lineup page to check your own market.

What programming would be at risk?
A genuine blackout could affect Fox’s NFL broadcasts, college football on the Fox broadcast network, FS1 and FS2 events, Big Ten Network programming, Fox news coverage, local news and syndicated programming carried by a local Fox station.
It would not mean losing every NFL or college-football game. Sports rights are divided among Fox, ESPN, CBS, NBC, ABC and streaming services. The effect would depend on the specific event and the network carrying it.
Could DVR recordings disappear?
During the 2025 warning, YouTube TV said that affected Fox content could become unavailable in subscribers’ libraries. That matters because a recording is not necessarily playable forever if the underlying channel rights disappear.
The exact treatment can depend on the channel, the recording rights and the length of a dispute. Do not assume every recording will definitely be deleted, but watch important programs early if YouTube TV issues a new notice. Offline access also depends on the content and plan; do not assume recordings can simply be downloaded and kept permanently.
Would YouTube TV provide a credit?
For the 2025 dispute, YouTube TV said it would offer a $10 credit if Fox content became unavailable for an extended period. That was tied to that warning, not a universal promise for every future carriage dispute.
If a new dispute occurs, read the current notice for eligibility, timing and redemption rules. Even a credit may not compensate a viewer who misses a particular live game or news broadcast.
How to check whether you are actually affected
- Open YouTube TV’s lineup or membership page and enter your home ZIP code.
- Confirm whether your local Fox affiliate is included in your market.
- Check whether your plan includes FS1, FS2, Fox News, Fox Business and Big Ten Network.
- Review recent email and in-app notices from YouTube TV.
- Compare the notice with a current statement from Fox.
- Check the date on any article, video or social-media post before acting on it.
Alternatives if Fox is actually removed
FOX One
YouTube announced that FOX One became available through Primetime Channels on June 1, 2026, listing the service at $19.99 per month. The announcement describes access to Fox live channels, national and local news, live and on-demand sports, entertainment programming and 2026 World Cup matches.
FOX One is a Fox-focused fallback, not a complete replacement for YouTube TV. It does not automatically replace ESPN, CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, other cable networks or the full YouTube TV bundle. Confirm local availability and the exact live-channel lineup before subscribing.

An over-the-air antenna
An antenna may be enough for viewers whose main priority is the local Fox broadcast network, including NFL or college-football games carried by that station. It generally requires a one-time hardware purchase rather than another monthly streaming bill.
Reception depends on distance from broadcast towers, terrain, building materials and antenna placement. An antenna will not replace Fox News, Fox Business, FS1, FS2 or Big Ten Network. A separate compatible DVR may also be needed.
Another live-TV streaming service
Services such as Fubo, DIRECTV STREAM, Hulu + Live TV and Sling TV may be alternatives, but their Fox coverage, local affiliates, sports networks, prices, promotions, DVR rules and simultaneous-stream limits change. Check your ZIP code and verify every channel you need before switching.

Should you cancel YouTube TV now?
Not based solely on the recycled August 2025 headline. If YouTube TV sends a new blackout notice, first identify the precise channels affected and the deadline. Then compare that list with your viewing priorities:
- Local Fox only: check antenna reception.
- Fox news and sports networks: investigate FOX One, while confirming its current lineup.
- A full live-TV replacement: compare another provider only after checking ZIP-code-specific coverage and total cost.
- Broad channel access and cloud DVR: staying with YouTube TV may be simpler if no current blackout is confirmed.

When was the YouTube TV Fox blackout deadline?
The deadline in the widely reported dispute was 5 p.m. Eastern on August 27, 2025—not a currently verified 2026 deadline.
Does FOX One replace YouTube TV?
No. FOX One is designed around Fox programming and does not automatically replace YouTube TV’s broader channel bundle, local non-Fox stations or full live-TV lineup.
Can an antenna replace Fox channels?
An antenna can potentially receive your local Fox broadcast station, but it cannot replace Fox News, Fox Business, FS1, FS2 or Big Ten Network.
