Summer of Gaming 2024 is over. It was not one single broadcast, but a season of showcases held mainly from late May through June 2024. The name can refer to IGN’s own summer coverage and three-day IGN Live event, or more loosely to the wider post-E3 calendar that included Summer Game Fest, Xbox, Nintendo, Ubisoft, PC Gaming Show, Future Games Show and several indie presentations.
This archived guide separates those events, records the announced U.S. times, and explains where viewers could watch the original broadcasts and replays.
What was Summer of Gaming 2024?
“Summer of Gaming” and “Summer Game Fest” were different brands. IGN used Summer of Gaming for its seasonal editorial and video coverage, including the physical-and-digital IGN Live event. Summer Game Fest was Geoff Keighley’s separate cross-industry showcase.
Other publishers and media outlets ran their own presentations around the same period. They belonged to the broader 2024 summer showcase season, not to one continuous IGN production. That distinction matters when looking for an official stream or replay.

IGN Live 2024: dates, venue and livestream
- Dates: June 7–9, 2024
- Location: Magic Box @ The Reef, Los Angeles
- Format: In-person fan event with online coverage
- Online viewing: IGN’s YouTube coverage, IGN’s Twitch channel and the IGN event hub
IGN Live combined game demonstrations, gaming stations, developer and publisher interviews, panels, stage programming, merchandise and fan activations. Its scope also extended beyond games into film, television and wider pop culture, with coverage involving properties such as Marvel, Star Wars, Assassin’s Creed, Call of Duty, Sonic, Street Fighter and WWE.
Online viewers did not receive the same experience as attendees. Livestreams could show interviews and stage presentations, but hands-on demos, booths, merchandise and some venue activations were available only in Los Angeles.

Summer Game Fest
Summer Game Fest took place at the YouTube Theater in Hollywood Park on Friday, June 7, beginning at 2 p.m. Pacific / 5 p.m. Eastern. - Deeper VA Contrast: The VA panel delivers deeper blacks and stronger shadow detail with a 3000:1 contrast ratio. It is well suited for dark game scenes, late-night movies and bedroom entertainment for casual gamers and streaming users.
- Compact FHD Display: The 24 inch 1080P screen provides clear visuals for documents, spreadsheets, online classes, web browsing and everyday gaming. Thin bezels make it a practical choice for students, home-office users and dual-monitor workstations.
- Comfortable Long Viewing: Flicker-free technology and a low blue light mode help provide a more comfortable viewing experience during extended gaming, studying and office work. Designed for students, remote workers and users who spend long hours in front of the screen.
- Flexible Connectivity: HDMI connects PCs, laptops and supported gaming consoles, while VGA supports compatible older office computers. VESA 100 × 100mm mounting makes it easy to build dual-monitor, dorm-room and compact home-office setups.
Because the event was followed by other broadcasts, viewers should have treated the published start time as the beginning of the show or its pre-show window, not a promise that every later presentation would begin at an exact minute.
Xbox Games Showcase and Black Ops 6 Direct
Microsoft scheduled its Xbox Games Showcase for June 9 at 10 a.m. Pacific / 1 p.m. Eastern. Xbox said the program would include games from Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda, Activision Blizzard and third-party partners. A dedicated Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct followed immediately afterward, making the two broadcasts a planned double feature rather than one ordinary showcase.
The “immediately after” wording did not guarantee a fixed clock time. Anyone planning to watch both should reserve extra time after the Xbox presentation.

The PC Gaming Show marked its tenth anniversary in 2024 and promoted a lineup of more than 70 games. It began June 9 at 1 p.m. Pacific / 4 p.m. Eastern. That large advertised lineup covered a broad range of PC announcements, trailers and interviews; it should not be confused with a single publisher’s presentation.
Future Games Show
The Future Games Show Summer Showcase aired June 8 at noon Pacific / 3 p.m. Eastern. Its emphasis was on new trailers, announcements and games from indie and AA developers. The official YouTube listing is the most useful starting point for archived viewing.

Nintendo’s June presentation
Nintendo’s June 18 presentation focused on Switch games planned for the second half of 2024. Nintendo explicitly said it would not include information about the successor to Nintendo Switch. It therefore should not have been treated as a Switch successor showcase.
Where to watch the broadcasts and replays
For archived viewing, start with the organizer’s official video page:
- IGN Live: IGN on YouTube, IGN on Twitch and the IGN event hub.
- Summer Game Fest: Geoff Keighley’s official Summer Game Fest and Game Awards channels.
- Xbox and Black Ops 6: Xbox’s announcement and official video channels.
- PC Gaming Show: PC Gamer’s official event channels and the PC Gaming Show schedule coverage.
- Nintendo: Nintendo’s official YouTube channel and Nintendo Direct archive.
- Future Games Show: the official YouTube replay listing.
YouTube was generally the simplest option for finding full replays and scrubbing through trailers. Twitch was useful for live chat, co-streams and watchalongs. Availability, language feeds, copyrighted music and pre-show material could differ by region or platform. Third-party rebroadcasts could also be delayed.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to handle a showcase-heavy weekend
- Prioritize platform-specific presentations live. Xbox, Nintendo and major publisher events are the most relevant if you primarily play on one platform.
- Reserve June 7 and June 9 carefully. Summer Game Fest was followed by other programs, while Xbox was followed immediately by the Black Ops 6 Direct and overlapped the PC Gaming Show later that day.
- Use official VODs for indie showcases. Replays make it easier to skip repeated trailers, advertising and long pre-shows.
- Create calendar entries in your local time. The listed times above are Pacific and Eastern; international viewers should verify conversion and daylight-saving treatment.
- Allow buffer time. Countdown videos, pre-shows, overruns and “following” broadcasts can shift the practical start time.
Watching live offers immediate announcements and the shared reaction of the audience. Watching later is often better for viewers in inconvenient time zones or anyone trying to avoid overlapping presentations, buffering and repeated material.

What to expect from showcase coverage
Showcases typically mix new announcements with previously revealed games, cinematic trailers, release windows, advertisements and sponsored segments. A CGI trailer is not the same as a gameplay demonstration, and a release window is not a guaranteed date. Platform availability can also change.
For an archived article, distinguish between what organizers promoted in advance and what a presentation actually showed. Do not treat rumors, editorial predictions or games from earlier showcases as confirmed appearances unless an organizer announced them.
