Start with the subject you want. For a jaguar-focused film, PBS NATURE lists Jaguar Beach, a 53-minute, 38-second episode filmed on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast. For a longer jaguar story in South America, Disney+ lists the five-part 2025 series Jaguar Journals, following five jaguars in Brazil’s wetlands. For the rainforest itself, PBS lists Rivers of Life: The Amazon, a 54-minute, 39-second episode. Prime Video also has a listing for Jaguars: Brazil’s Super Cats, although the surfaced listing does not establish whether it is currently included, rented or sold in your country.
Streaming catalogs, subscription rules and territory rights change. Use the official title page in your country immediately before watching, particularly for Disney+, Prime Video and PBS Passport access.
Best matches at a glance
These programs answer slightly different versions of the query. One is a coastal jaguar encounter, one is a Brazilian wetlands series, one is an Amazon-rainforest episode and one is a title listing whose current payment terms require checking.

Jaguar documentaries to watch first
Jaguar Beach: the closest PBS jaguar match
Jaguar Beach is the most direct PBS answer if you want to watch jaguars rather than a general rainforest program. PBS describes an encounter on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast involving jaguars and olive ridley sea turtles. That location matters: Costa Rica’s Pacific coastline is not the Amazon basin, so this is a coastal wildlife story rather than an Amazon documentary.

The episode runs 53 minutes and 38 seconds. PBS’s current NATURE information identifies pbs.org and the PBS app as streaming routes. Search the NATURE catalog for the exact title rather than assuming that every episode has identical access rules. PBS also says classic NATURE episodes can be available through the station-member benefit PBS Passport; that statement should not be expanded to mean that every current episode is free or that Jaguar Beach is included for every viewer.
Jaguar Journals: a multi-episode view of Brazilian jaguars
Choose Jaguar Journals when you want sustained attention on individual animals instead of a single, self-contained episode. Disney+ lists it as a five-part series released in 2025. The series follows five jaguars with biologist-conservationist Lizzie Daly and the Onçafari project in Brazil’s wetlands.
Brazil’s wetlands give this series a different setting from both Jaguar Beach and an Amazon-rainforest program. “Brazil” is not interchangeable with “the Amazon”: the country contains several ecosystems, and the series description specifically identifies wetlands. On Disney+, search the title from the account profile you will use to watch. The service presents plans on its official page, but subscription prices and title availability vary by market and can change over time, so a price shown in one country is not an evergreen global rate.

Jaguars: Brazil’s Super Cats: a lead that needs a title-page check
Prime Video has a listing for Jaguars: Brazil’s Super Cats and associates it with discovery+ Nature. The listing confirms that a page exists, but the surfaced information does not settle three practical questions: whether the title streams in your country, whether discovery+ Nature access is required, and whether the program is included with a subscription or offered as a separate rental or purchase.
Open the title page while signed out or with the intended household account, select your country if prompted, and read the button next to the play option. A “watch now” button tied to a channel is a different offer from a rental price or a purchase price. Do not treat the presence of a Prime Video page as proof of universal access.
The Amazon-focused program
Rivers of Life: The Amazon
If your priority is the Amazon rainforest rather than jaguars specifically, PBS’s science and nature collection lists episode 2 of Rivers of Life: The Amazon. Its listed runtime is 54 minutes and 39 seconds. The program is therefore a better subject match for “the Amazon” than Jaguar Beach, whose setting is Costa Rica’s Pacific coast.

PBS’s catalog pages can change as rights windows move. Use the live episode page to confirm whether it plays directly, asks you to sign in, or points to a PBS Passport benefit in your area. The collection listing establishes the episode and runtime; it does not by itself guarantee identical access in every country.
A historical Disney+ lead: Expedition Amazon
The National Geographic Society’s 2024 annual report records that Expedition Amazon appeared on Disney+ in October 2024. That is historical availability evidence, not confirmation that the title remains in the catalog in 2026. If you search Disney+ and do not see it, the result may reflect an expired rights window or a country-specific catalog difference. Treat the current Disney+ search result as authoritative for your account, not the older date in the annual report.

- Open pbs.org or the PBS app and search for Jaguar Beach or Rivers of Life: The Amazon.
- Open the individual episode page, not only the series landing page, and check the play button and availability message.
- If PBS asks you to choose a station or sign in, follow that prompt. A station-member Passport benefit applies to eligible catalog items, while current episode access can have separate rules.
- Confirm that the episode loads before planning a group viewing. Catalog pages can remain searchable after a streaming window has changed.
PBS has also listed its app on Amazon Fire TV. That is general device support, not a guarantee that every program is carried on every device or in every market. You do not need to buy a streaming device simply because the PBS app supports one; a compatible web browser, phone, tablet or smart-TV app may be sufficient for your setup.

Disney+
Disney+ is the strongest confirmed service match for a dedicated jaguar series because its official listing identifies Jaguar Journals as a five-part 2025 production. Before subscribing, search from the country where you will watch and check the plan details displayed there. A title can be listed in one territory and absent in another, and a series can move between plans or leave a catalog after a rights period ends.

Prime Video is a secondary route for Jaguars: Brazil’s Super Cats. The listing’s association with discovery+ Nature means the viewing path may involve a channel subscription rather than the standard Prime catalog. Read the offer’s billing line carefully: channel access, one-time rental and one-time purchase create different costs and cancellation rules. Because the available evidence does not establish the current terms, verify them on the localized title page instead of relying on a search snippet.

BBC Select
BBC Select describes a natural-history catalog of more than 100 hours, with programs dating back to 1954. It is useful as a broad wildlife-discovery service, but the available catalog information does not establish a jaguar- or Amazon-specific title. Use its search function if you already subscribe; do not choose it solely on the assumption that it carries one of the programs above.
Choose by the experience you want
- One evening about jaguars: Start with Jaguar Beach, accepting that the story is set on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast.
- A continuing character-led jaguar series: Choose Jaguar Journals on Disney+ if the title appears in your local catalog.
- The Amazon rainforest itself: Look for Rivers of Life: The Amazon on PBS and confirm the episode page’s current play status.
- Brazilian jaguars through a Prime Video account: Check Jaguars: Brazil’s Super Cats, but decide only after the page identifies the access type and price for your country.
- General natural-history browsing: BBC Select offers a large back catalog, although no specific jaguar or Amazon title is established here.
Country, date and subscription checks
There is no single worldwide answer to “where to watch.” Rights are territorial, and a program’s availability can change without the title being removed from search results immediately. Check these items in order:
- Country: Use the service account and payment region that will actually watch the program.
- Date: Check immediately before viewing, especially for the historical Expedition Amazon reference from October 2024.
- Access type: Distinguish free streaming, station-member Passport access, an included subscription title, a channel add-on, a rental and a purchase.
- Device: Confirm that your browser or app is supported and updated. PBS’s general Fire TV support does not imply title availability on every device.
- Playback rights: A trailer or synopsis page may be visible even when the full episode is restricted by territory or membership.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Calling every Brazilian program an Amazon documentary
Brazil contains the Amazon rainforest, wetlands and other ecosystems. Jaguar Journals is described as taking place in Brazil’s wetlands, while Rivers of Life: The Amazon is the explicit Amazon-focused listing. Keep those settings separate when choosing a program for a school project, travel planning or a themed film night.
Assuming a PBS listing means universal free access
PBS identifies pbs.org and its app as streaming routes, and PBS Passport covers eligible classic NATURE episodes through participating stations. Neither point proves that every current episode is free in every location. Open the exact episode page and follow its access message.
Confusing a storefront listing with included streaming
A Prime Video result for Jaguars: Brazil’s Super Cats shows that a listing exists. It does not, on the evidence available here, identify the current country, channel requirement or payment model. Confirm the offer immediately before paying.
Quick Recap
A quick pre-watch checklist
- Write down whether your priority is jaguars, the Amazon rainforest or a particular country and ecosystem.
- Search the exact title on the official service, using the country where you will watch.
- Read the runtime and format so you know whether you are selecting a 53-minute episode, a 54-minute episode or a five-part series.
- Check the access label and total price, including any channel add-on or Passport requirement.
- Test playback on the device you plan to use, rather than assuming that a catalog page equals playable access.
