When did Uche Ojeh die?
The safest answer is that Ojeh died in May 2025. May 23 was the date his death was publicly announced, not necessarily the date he died.
A later USA TODAY report, syndicated by AOL, said Ojeh died on May 18. Other databases and secondary reports have listed May 23. Because the publicly available accounts are inconsistent, an exact date should not be presented as settled without a family statement or death record. When did Sheinelle Jones learn about his diagnosis?

What is glioblastoma?
Glioblastoma is a fast-growing, malignant brain tumor classified as a grade 4 tumor. Primary brain tumors are generally graded according to how aggressive their cells appear rather than staged in the same way as many other cancers.
Treatment can involve surgery when the tumor can be safely removed, followed by radiation and chemotherapy. The appropriate approach depends on factors such as the tumor’s location and biology, the patient’s overall health and how the disease responds. Jones’ statement that she accompanied Ojeh during chemotherapy does not establish his complete treatment plan.
Medical statistics describe groups of patients, not the course of one person’s illness. The American Cancer Society reports a five-year relative survival rate of 6% for adults age 40 and older with glioblastoma, based on people treated from 2004 through 2020. The organization cautions that such figures cannot predict an individual outcome and may not reflect the newest treatments. Who was Uche Ojeh?
Ojeh was a private individual whose public profile was primarily connected to his marriage to Jones. His full name was reported as Uchechukwuka Adenola Ojeh, and he attended Northwestern University, where he was identified as Uche Ojeh ’01.
According to a Northwestern Magazine profile, Ojeh met Jones when he visited Northwestern as a high school senior. Jones said she was not officially working as a campus tour guide: she was walking to class, thought he was cute and offered to show him around.
The relationship eventually led to a proposal in the rain near Northwestern’s lakefront. They married in 2007. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the wedding took place at the Church of the Holy Trinity near Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Square.
They had three children: son Kayin and twins Uche and Clara. The children were born in 2009 and 2012, according to Northwestern Magazine. Since their ages change over time—and have been inconsistently reported—names are more reliable than repeating undated ages. Ojeh and Jones had been married for nearly 18 years when he died.

Public professional profiles and secondary reports identified Ojeh as a consultant who worked with IBM and Accenture and later operated UAO Consulting. How did colleagues and family describe him?
The Today tribute described Ojeh as a devoted husband and father, an enthusiastic soccer player and a church choir singer who remained connected to his Nigerian heritage. Craig Melvin said Ojeh was proud of his children and regularly attended their games, concerts and recitals. These descriptions are tributes from people who knew him, rather than an exhaustive biography.
Jones also celebrated Ojeh publicly after he completed a triathlon in 2023, describing the event as an accomplishment for which he had trained hard. The detail offers a glimpse of his interests, but it is secondary to the family’s loss and should not be treated as evidence about his illness.
