Jordan Smith did not disappear after winning The Voice Season 9. After taking the title with Adam Levine’s team in December 2015, he built a sustained recording career that gradually moved from broad pop and gospel material toward explicitly Christian music, songwriting, and hymn-based projects.

The immediate result was a strong commercial debut rather than a guaranteed transformation into a mainstream pop superstar. His first album’s chart performance demonstrates substantial post-show demand, while his later release history shows that he pursued a more specific artistic identity over time.
Something Beautiful gave him a major post-show launch
Smith released Something Beautiful in 2016. The album combined original songs with gospel standards and reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200.
That result made the album one of the clearest signs that Smith converted his television exposure into a viable recording career. It is more accurate, however, to describe the release as a successful launch than as proof that he became a conventional pop megastar. His music became more personal and more openly gospel
The direction of Smith’s music changed noticeably after his initial post-show period.

Gaither also announced a companion DVD and live-performance project, with an official release date of July 25, 2025. The visual project extended the album beyond an audio release and presented Smith’s performances in a concert-style setting.
Jordan Smith’s The People’s Hymnal CD is the clearest physical representation of this phase of his career: a gospel-focused collection built around well-known hymns and standards rather than a conventional pop album.
He returned to televised competition in 2022
Smith appeared on another NBC singing competition, American Song Contest, in 2022. Representing Kentucky, he performed “Sparrow” and finished third.

The appearance showed that Smith remained willing to use nationally televised competition as part of his career, but it was not a second victory. Instead, it functioned as a later public appearance by an established recording artist who had already moved beyond his original The Voice breakthrough.
