Is it a sequel?
Yes. The Family Plan 2 follows the earlier The Family Plan, with Wahlberg and Monaghan returning as Dan and Jessica Morgan.
Watching the first movie is not strictly required to understand the sequel’s basic setup: a former assassin is trying to protect his family during a dangerous trip. However, the original provides the background to Dan’s former life and the family’s unusual situation, making it the better starting point for viewers who have not seen it.

Rating and family suitability
The U.S. Apple TV listing gives the film a PG-13 rating for action and violence, language, some sexual material and brief drug material. It is an action comedy involving a family, but PG-13 does not mean it is intended for young children.
Age classifications can differ outside the United States. Check the rating shown on your local Apple TV storefront.

Trailer
Apple’s movie page lists an official trailer running approximately three minutes. You can watch it through Apple’s official YouTube channel.
International availability
Apple maintains regional listings, including pages for the United States and Canada. Readers elsewhere should open their local Apple TV storefront rather than assume that the U.S. catalog, $12.99 monthly price, PG-13 rating, subtitles or audio tracks apply in their country.
If the title does not appear, availability may differ in your region or the app may be showing a different storefront. If the page appears but playback is unavailable, check that you are signed in and have an active subscription or eligible trial. A missing trial offer usually means the account does not qualify for that promotion.
Is an Apple TV subscription worth it for one movie?
For viewers who already subscribe, The Family Plan 2 is available through the existing service without a separate movie rental listed in the official sources. A new subscriber may see the seven-day U.S. trial, but it should not be treated as guaranteed.
Recommended Free Tools
Subscribing solely for one film is less attractive if you are not eligible for a trial and do not expect to watch other Apple TV programming. The practical alternatives are to use an existing subscription, redeem an eligible promotion or subscribe for a month and manage cancellation according to Apple’s terms. Apple’s official materials identify Apple TV as the exclusive streaming home; they do not establish a current Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, rental, purchase or disc release option.
