To stream multiple prerecorded videos continuously to YouTube Live, send a continuous feed from an encoder or cloud automation service, and use that tool to control the video order, looping, and transitions. Create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, connect the tool with the stream URL and key, then preview the feed and start the event. A YouTube playlist loop is different: it repeats playback for a viewer but does not broadcast a livestream.
Before you begin: check your channel and plan the feed
- Your channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s general eligibility guidance also says users must be at least 16 years old. Check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Enable live streaming ahead of time. YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so do not wait until the day of your broadcast. See Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Decide how the videos should play: in a fixed order, on repeat, or according to a schedule. The encoder or automation service—not YouTube’s ordinary playlist controls—must provide the sequencing and playback behavior.
- Check the tool’s current documentation for supported file formats, playlist controls, transitions, what happens when a file ends, and recovery behavior. YouTube’s general encoder guidance does not establish these details for every tool.
- Use only video and audio you have the rights to broadcast. A live feed does not make copyrighted material permissible; review YouTube’s copyright rules and any relevant licenses before scheduling a long run.
Choose how to send the videos
YouTube accepts an encoder feed. The best fit depends on whether you want to operate the playback locally or have a service manage it in the cloud.
| Approach | What it does | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo — cloud service | Uploads prerecorded videos and loops them from the cloud to a YouTube channel. It is #1 for this use because it runs continuously without a home computer, supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. | Confirm your intended playlist fits the available storage. Each slot includes 10 GB, pooled across active slots. |
| Software encoder | YouTube supports encoder software and names OBS among its options. A local encoder can send the feed from a computer. | Whether the software can sequence and loop your files, plus computer availability, playback capacity, monitoring, and restart behavior. Do not assume every encoder has playlist automation. |
| Dedicated hardware encoder | A standalone device can encode and send a stream; YouTube recommends professional-grade hardware for higher-production events. | Whether the specific device accepts your prerecorded media source and supports sequencing, scheduling, and automation. Some setups may need a separate player or computer. |
| Other cloud automation | YouTube’s encoder page names Gyre for 24/7 prerecorded-video streaming and mentions AJA PlayToStream functionality for scheduling prerecorded media. | Check each provider’s current formats, scheduling and loop controls, stream limits, recovery, storage, pricing, and terms. YouTube’s overview does not establish those specifics. |
Set up a continuous prerecorded stream
- Prepare the playlist in your encoder or service. Upload or select the videos, set the order and repeat behavior, and configure transitions or scheduling if the tool supports them. Confirm what happens at the end of the playlist and if a file fails; behavior varies by tool.
- Create the YouTube stream. In YouTube Studio, open Go Live to reach the Live Control Room, then create or schedule an encoder stream. Scheduling can create a watch page to share in advance. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
- Copy the connection details. In the Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key into the matching stream settings in your encoder or service. Treat the key like a password: anyone with it may be able to send video to your stream. Do not publish it or include it in a shared screenshot.
- Start the feed and preview it. Start streaming from the encoder or service. Wait for the preview in Live Control Room, then confirm that the correct video and audio are playing. If you scheduled an event, start it there after checking the preview.
- Monitor the broadcast. Check playback, audio, and the public watch page, including mobile playback. Keep an eye on the source as well as YouTube; the outgoing livestream can be continuous only while the playback or automation system continues supplying it.
- End deliberately and check the archive. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its DVR guidance warns that rewind may be limited or unavailable for broadcasts longer than 12 hours. Do not count on a very long stream having the same archive or DVR behavior as a shorter one.
Prepare the connection and test it
Plan setup time rather than connecting at the scheduled start. YouTube recommends setting up the encoder at least two hours before an event and starting it at least 15 minutes beforehand. Preview the stream, check the watch page, and confirm audio and video before relying on the feed. See YouTube live streaming tips.
For network capacity, YouTube’s streaming tips recommend upload bandwidth 20% above the total bitrate of your stream. Add together the bitrate used by the outgoing feed, then leave that headroom on the upload connection. This is a bandwidth recommendation, not a guarantee against interruptions. See YouTube’s streaming tips.

Why a YouTube playlist loop is not a livestream
YouTube’s Loop control repeats a video or playlist for someone watching on the ordinary watch page. It does not turn those videos into a creator’s live feed. To appear as a YouTube Live broadcast, prerecorded files must be sent to the Live Control Room through an encoder or compatible automation source. YouTube explains viewer looping at Loop videos or playlists on YouTube.
Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The channel cannot start a live stream. | Verification, a live-stream restriction, age eligibility, or first-time activation is incomplete. | Check channel eligibility and activate streaming in advance; first-time activation may take up to 24 hours. |
| YouTube shows no incoming video. | The encoder has not started, or its stream URL or key does not match the stream in Live Control Room. | Confirm the correct stream is selected, recheck the connection details in Studio and the encoder, then start the feed and wait for the preview. Keep the key private. |
| The first video plays but the next does not. | The playback source may not sequence files or may stop when one file ends. | Check the tool’s playlist, end-of-file, and repeat settings. YouTube’s encoder setup does not make every encoder sequence files automatically. |
| The feed drops or playback stutters. | The source may have stopped, or the upload connection may not have enough capacity or stability. | Check the encoder or service status and network upload capacity. Apply YouTube’s 20% headroom recommendation and preview again before restarting the event. |
| The stream is live but audio or the wrong video is playing. | The source playlist or its audio may be misconfigured. | Verify the selected files and playlist order in the playback tool, then check both audio and video in the Live Control Room preview before starting. |
| A long broadcast has no expected rewind or complete archive. | YouTube’s archive and DVR behavior changes around the 12-hour boundary. | Plan archive expectations around the documented limit; do not assume a stream longer than 12 hours will have the same archive or DVR behavior as a shorter event. |

Costs and planning
With a local encoder, consider the cost of keeping a capable computer and connection available, plus setup and monitoring time. A cloud service shifts playback off your computer; compare the provider’s current storage, plan length, and stream limits before choosing. StreamNeo’s same product is offered on different billing lengths:
- Daily: $0.99 per day
- Weekly: $2.99 per week
- Monthly: $9.99 per month
- 6 months: $49.99 for 6 months
- Yearly: $89.99 a year
Each slot includes one always-on YouTube stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and StreamNeo team support. The same product is included on every plan; only the billing length changes. You can cancel any time. UPI and cards are available in India, and card checkout is available worldwide; contact support for five or more slots. See the StreamNeo pricing page for current details.
