Add the intermission card as a regular item in the same looping playlist as your cartoons, positioned wherever you want the break. It can be a short video or a simple composition with a background, message and logo. Preview the sequence before airing it, and check that you have the rights to stream every cartoon and card element.
Make the intermission card
Create either a short video file or a composition for your playout tool. A simple card might use a background loop, a short message such as “Be right back,” and your channel logo. Keep the design readable at the resolution viewers will see, and decide whether the card should have music, ambient audio or silence.
For a composition-based approach, playout.video’s guide uses a background loop, text and a logo as an intermission example. A finished video is another straightforward option if your playout system accepts it.
Insert it between cartoons
- Open the playlist or rundown that contains the cartoons you want to play. The exact interface and accepted media formats depend on the tool you use.
- Add the card as an ordinary playlist item. Place it between the cartoon items where you want the intermission to appear. In the documented playout.video workflow, a jingle is handled like a regular playlist item.
- Set the item order. For example: Cartoon A, intermission card, Cartoon B. Add another card wherever you want another break.
- Check that playlist looping is enabled. The playout.video guide says looping is always enabled for 24/7 streaming and that playback returns to the first video after the last. The Upstream description likewise covers looping playlists with stings or jingles between videos.
- Preview the sequence with picture and sound. Check that the card appears at the intended point, its message is legible, and its audio level fits the surrounding cartoons. The cited documentation describes playlist and composition features; it does not establish that your own finished sequence has been tested.
Choose where playout runs
| Approach | Where it runs | Documented capabilities | What to consider |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cloud playlist playout | On a hosted service | playout.video documents playlist items, compositions and looping; Upstream describes server-hosted looping playlists with stings or jingles. | Check the service’s accepted formats, destination support, controls for editing while live, and current terms. Capabilities are vendor-described, not independent reliability test results. |
| Local OBS playout | On your own computer running OBS | The 24/7 Playout project describes rundown management for continuous playback and OBS scene integration. Its cited project information documents a Windows x64 release. | Verify current OBS compatibility and project maintenance. Your computer and local setup are part of the playout path, and the cited information does not establish universal reliability or support for every destination or format. |
For either approach, confirm how the tool handles playlist edits during a live run. In playout.video’s documentation, an edit to a running playlist takes effect at the next video transition, not in the middle of the current video. Do not assume another tool behaves the same way.

#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Keep the stream and content eligible
- Confirm streaming rights. Having a cartoon file does not establish permission to broadcast it. Check the rights for each cartoon and for any music, images or other material used on the card.
- Check the destination’s current rules. Platform-specific live-stream restrictions and duration limits can affect a 24/7 schedule. The cited tool documentation does not resolve those rules or guarantee continuity through platform outages.
- Separate playlist looping from stream continuity. A playlist returning to its first item does not by itself guarantee that the live broadcast will stay connected through service or platform interruptions.
- Plan for changes carefully. If you edit a running playlist, use the chosen tool’s documented behavior to determine when the new order will take effect.
Common problems and fixes
- The card does not appear between cartoons: Check that it was added to the same playlist or rundown and is placed in the intended position. Confirm that the playlist currently being played is the one you edited.
- Playback stops at the end of the list: Check the loop setting in your chosen tool. In playout.video, the documentation describes looping as always enabled for 24/7 streaming; do not assume that default applies elsewhere.
- A live edit seems delayed: In playout.video, edits to a running playlist take effect at the next video transition. Check the specific tool’s behavior before diagnosing a delayed change as a failure.
- The card looks or sounds wrong on air: Preview it in sequence before using it. Check legibility, audio and transitions in the actual playout path rather than relying only on the source file.
- The stream ends even though the playlist loops: Playlist looping only describes playback order. Investigate the destination’s live-stream rules and the playout setup separately; the cited sources do not promise uninterrupted operation through outages.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your cartoons are uploaded videos and the destination is YouTube, StreamNeo can loop them from the cloud: upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It is for uploaded video, not camera-based live production, and it streams to YouTube only.
- Your computer, OBS and home internet connection do not have to stay on for the stream to run.
- Every slot streams your uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; there are no quality tiers or re-encoding.
- StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free with no card required, one free day per account. The monthly option is $9.99 per month.
To add an intermission, include its video in the playlist between the cartoons before starting the stream. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
