The spot previewed Google’s AI, camera, long-term software-support messaging and—most notably—two Pro models: the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL.
This is historical launch coverage, not a current 2026 announcement.

The video was hosted by a third-party YouTube channel in the original report, rather than being clearly identified as an official Google upload. It may therefore be removed, made private or restricted in some regions. The original coverage is available through Droid Life’s July 26, 2024 report.
What the ad highlights
The leaked spot promotes several themes that became central to Google’s Pixel 9 launch messaging:
#1 Best Overall
- The power behind AI on Google Pixel - Google Tensor G4 is Pixel’s most powerful chip yet.
- Advanced camera. Next-level amazing - The award-winning Pixel Camera includes a 50 MP main sensor for incredible image and video quality. And a new 48 MP ultrawide camera for stunning Macro Focus.
- The amazing Actua display - The 6.3-inch Actua display is sharp, vibrant, and super bright. It runs fast, up to 120Hz, for smooth gaming, scrolling, and switching between apps
- Powerful performance - Pixel 9 runs fast and smooth with 12 GB of RAM. And it’s designed to handle Google’s advanced AI.
- Give photos a whole new vision - Reimagine photos in Magic Editor, like adding fall leaves or green grass. Just tap what part you want to change in the photo, and type what you want to see.
- Gemini and AI: The commercial presents Google’s AI capabilities as a major Pixel 9 Pro feature. Its appearance in an advertisement does not, by itself, establish real-world performance, availability in every country, privacy behavior or whether particular features require a subscription.
- Rear cameras: The ad emphasizes the phone’s camera system, but advertising language should not be treated as independent evidence that the Pixel 9 Pro outperforms competing phones.
- Seven years of updates: The spot advertises a long-term software-support promise. That should be understood as a support claim, not proof that every future feature, repair, security update or hardware service will be identical throughout that period.
- Two Pro sizes: The commercial previewed both the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL.
Why the leak mattered
The commercial appeared while the Pixel 9 series was already the subject of extensive pre-launch leaks. Rather than revealing only another feature, the television spot appeared to expose Google’s planned product positioning before the company’s scheduled August 13, 2024 announcement.
Its most significant product-line detail was the existence of two Pro models. The Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL were presented as separate phones in the Pro range—not simply two colors or storage configurations of one device.
Rank #2
- Gemini AI Integration: Built-in Gemini AI assistant supercharges your productivity and creativity, helping you accomplish tasks faster, generate content, and unlock new possibilities right from your smartphone without needing additional apps or subscriptions
Pixel 9 Pro commercial versus Pixel 9 commercial
Droid Life later added a separate video for the standard Pixel 9. That is not the same video as the Pixel 9 Pro spot:
Keeping the links separate matters because the two commercials refer to different models within the Pixel 9 family.

What was confirmed later?
Google subsequently announced the Pixel 9 series on August 13, 2024, confirming that the commercial had previewed the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL product direction. The ad’s broader themes—Gemini, cameras and long-term updates—were marketing messages associated with the phones, but the commercial was not an independent product review or a test of those claims.
