Spoilers ahead. Viola Davis leads G20 as U.S. President Danielle Sutton, a former military officer forced to fight back when mercenaries seize a G20 summit in Cape Town. The 2025 Prime Video thriller surrounds Davis with Anthony Anderson, Marsai Martin, Ramón Rodríguez, Antony Starr, Elizabeth Marvel, Douglas Hodge and an international supporting cast.

Directed by Patricia Riggen and written by Caitlin Parrish, Erica Weiss, Logan Miller and Noah Miller, G20 premiered worldwide on Prime Video on April 10, 2025. Here is a guide to the principal characters, the film’s key supporting roles and the cast details that are often reported incorrectly.

The main cast of G20

Viola Davis as President Danielle Sutton

Danielle Sutton is the president of the United States and the film’s central character. Before entering politics, she served in the military, and that combat experience becomes essential when the summit is attacked. Sutton must protect her family, rescue hostages and keep the assembled leaders alive while confronting a mercenary operation designed to destabilize governments.

Her political agenda also gives the crisis a wider stakes: Sutton is promoting a plan intended to expand economic opportunity for poor farmers in Africa. Davis served as a producer on the film as well as its star, alongside Andrew Lazar, Logan Miller, Noah Miller and Julius Tennon. Amazon’s production coverage identifies Davis’ character as President Danielle Sutton.

Anthony Anderson as Derek Sutton

Derek Sutton is Danielle’s husband and the father of Serena and Demetrius. The attack separates him from Danielle, leaving him to keep their children alive while the president attempts to retake the summit. His role connects the film’s political hostage crisis to the immediate danger facing the Sutton family.

Marsai Martin as Serena Sutton

Serena is Danielle and Derek’s teenage daughter. She is technologically capable and becomes an important part of the family’s effort to communicate with the outside world. Her actions also help connect the people trapped inside the crisis with the government response beyond the summit.

Christopher Farrar as Demetrius Sutton

Demetrius is Serena’s younger brother. He is portrayed as more frightened and uncertain than Serena during the attack, making him one of the people Derek must protect as the family tries to survive the mercenaries’ operation.

Ramón Rodríguez as Secret Service Agent Manny Ruiz

Manny Ruiz is the Secret Service agent who helps Danielle escape capture. He becomes her principal field ally as they move through the compromised venue, evade the attackers and work to protect the surviving leaders.

Antony Starr as Rutledge

Rutledge is the leader of the mercenaries who take over the G20 summit. His plan goes beyond a conventional hostage attack: it involves cryptocurrency manipulation and deepfake videos featuring world leaders. By creating confusion and market chaos, he attempts to present the assault as a revolt against governments while profiting from the financial consequences.

The principal listings from Amazon and TV Guide credit Starr’s character simply as Rutledge. Some secondary databases expand the name to “Edward Rutledge,” but that longer form is not used in the principal listings.

Douglas Hodge as Prime Minister Oliver Everett

Oliver Everett is the prime minister of the United Kingdom. He is among the senior political figures caught in the attack and escapes with Danielle, Ruiz and other surviving officials. He subsequently becomes part of their effort to reach safety.

Elizabeth Marvel as Treasury Secretary Joanna Worth

Joanna Worth is the U.S. treasury secretary. She initially appears to be another official endangered by the assault, but the film reveals that she is secretly working with Rutledge. Her betrayal adds an internal threat to an attack already exploiting political division and technological deception.

Sabrina Impacciatore as Elena Romano

Elena Romano is the head of the International Monetary Fund. She escapes the principal hostage group alongside Danielle, Ruiz, Prime Minister Everett and other surviving officials.

MeeWha Alana Lee as Han Min-Seo

Han Min-Seo is the first lady of South Korea. She is taken hostage during the summit attack and later helps turn the situation against Rutledge.

Important supporting characters

Clark Gregg as Vice President Harold Moseley

Harold Moseley is the vice president of the United States. He remains involved in the government’s response from outside the summit and receives a crucial message from Serena.

John Hoogenakker as Agent Darden

Agent Darden is a Secret Service agent who betrays the Sutton family and cooperates with Rutledge. His defection makes him one of the most significant internal threats in the film.

Angela Sarafyan as Quoll

Quoll is one of Rutledge’s operatives. Current cast credits list the character by that single name.

Julius Tennon as CIA Director Mikkelson

Mikkelson is the director of the CIA and part of the U.S. government’s response structure during the attack. The role is played by Julius Tennon, who is also Viola Davis’ husband.

Ali Suliman as Agent Adwi

Agent Adwi is another U.S. agent involved in the security and counterattack effort.

Frequently misstated G20 cast details

Viola Davis does not play a senator named Eleanor Grant. She plays U.S. President Danielle Sutton. The Eleanor Grant description comes from an inaccurate third-party account and conflicts with Amazon’s official film description.

The protagonist’s surname is Sutton, not Taylor. Some localized or user-edited database text has displayed “Taylor Sutton,” but the official Prime Video description identifies her as Danielle Sutton.

Rutledge is the safest credited name for Antony Starr’s character. “Edward Rutledge” appears in some secondary listings, but Amazon and TV Guide’s principal cast information does not provide that expanded first name.

G20 is a Prime Video release rather than a conventional theatrical film. Amazon announced its worldwide Prime Video debut for April 10, 2025, and describes it as streaming exclusively on Prime Video. The film is therefore best understood as a streaming action thriller led by Davis, not as a theatrical release that later moved online.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas is not in the credited cast. The official trailer and current principal cast listings identify Davis, Anderson, Martin, Rodríguez, Hodge, Marvel, Impacciatore, Farrar and Starr among the leading performers. The official Prime Video trailer does not establish Chopra Jonas as part of the film.
