Yes—EPIX NOW became available on Android TV in May 2019. It was a direct-subscription app, separate from the EPIX app used by participating TV-provider subscribers. EPIX later rebranded its streaming service as MGM+, so Android TV and Google TV users looking for it today should search Google Play for MGM+, not EPIX NOW.
What the 2019 Android TV announcement meant
The announcement was real, but it is historical: EPIX NOW became downloadable through Google Play on compatible Android TV devices in May 2019. The launch brought the standalone streaming service to televisions and streaming hardware; it was not the first EPIX-branded app on Android TV. The standard EPIX app was already available for customers signing in through participating pay-TV providers. Android Headlines reported the distinction in May 2019.
EPIX NOW was designed for viewers who wanted a direct subscription rather than access through a cable, satellite, or live-TV provider. Its offering included on-demand movies and series, original programming, documentaries, and live EPIX channels. The TV-provider app and the standalone service had different access routes; a subscription through one route did not necessarily mean the same login or entitlements worked in the other.
What happened to EPIX NOW?
EPIX became MGM+ on January 15, 2023. The current Google Play listing is named MGM+, and its app identifier remains com.epix.epix.now. That identifier indicates continuity from the EPIX NOW app, but it does not establish that every old account, subscription, feature, or device behaves exactly as it did in 2019. Google Play lists the current MGM+ app here.

Use the names according to context: EPIX NOW for the 2019 Android TV launch, MGM+ for the current streaming service and app, and EPIX when referring to the historical network or provider-authenticated app.
How to install MGM+ on Android TV or Google TV
- On your television or streaming device, open the Google Play Store.
- Search for MGM+. Searching for the old name, EPIX NOW, may not show the current listing.
- Check that the developer is MGMPlus Entertainment LLC.
- Select Install, then open the app.
- Sign in with an MGM+ account or follow the app’s on-screen subscription instructions.
Android TV includes compatible televisions, streaming devices, dongles, and other certified hardware. Google TV is a product experience built on Android TV on some devices, but the availability of a particular app still depends on factors such as device certification, region, operating-system version, and the developer’s compatibility settings. If MGM+ does not appear or will not play
The app is missing from Google Play
- Search for MGM+, not EPIX NOW.
- Confirm that the device is certified Android TV or Google TV hardware with Google Play access. A generic Android box may not be treated as an Android TV device.
- Check that the Google account’s Play Store region is supported. The current listing says MGM+ is available in the United States and certain U.S. territories.
- Install available system, Play Store, and Google Play Services updates, then search again.
- If the device remains unsupported, use an officially supported streaming device or another supported way to watch.
Do not treat a third-party APK as the normal fix. Sideloading can bring compatibility, security, remote-control, sign-in, and update problems. Historical Android TV APK records help document the app’s lineage, but they are not a substitute for the official store route. An archived Android TV release record notes the transition to MGM+.
The app installs but playback or sign-in fails
- Check whether the subscription is active and identify where it is billed. A direct MGM+ account and provider credentials may not grant identical access.
- Confirm that you are signing in with the account associated with the subscription.
- Sign out and back in, restart the app and device, check for app updates, and try another title.
- If authorization still fails, contact MGM+ support through the contact details in the current Google Play listing.
Price, trial, and availability
As displayed on Google Play on August 18, 2026, MGM+ costs $7.99 per month or $61.99 per year in the United States. The listing advertises a seven-day introductory trial for new and eligible returning customers. These are time-sensitive listing terms, not guaranteed permanent prices or trial eligibility; subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled, and the listing says subscription fees are non-refundable under applicable terms. Check the current offer and terms before subscribing.

The listing limits availability to the United States and certain U.S. territories. A missing app or unavailable title can therefore reflect regional restrictions as well as device compatibility.

The MGM+ listing advertises on-demand movies and series, original shows including FROM, Godfather of Harlem, and Billy the Kid, plus 24/7 live channels. It also describes continuing playback and a personal list. Catalog availability can change.

The listing describes offline downloads through the mobile apps. It does not establish offline downloads on Android TV, so plan to stream on the television rather than download programs directly to it.
Google’s Android TV subscription-and-install pilot included EPIX NOW as a service users could subscribe to and install with fewer remote-controlled form fields. That was a convenience around subscribing and installation, not a requirement for using the app. Separately, Google TV content integration could surface supported services such as Epix Now in the United States; Google’s support page says that integration feature did not support live TV. Discovery or watchlist integration should not be confused with app installation or guaranteed playback of every title.
