McDonald’s has officially linked several celebrities to named meals and promotional partnerships, but the available company sources do not establish one complete worldwide roster. The documented history begins with Michael Jordan in 1992, followed by U.S. Famous Orders and regional campaigns. The chronology below separates dated examples from official mentions whose dates are not stated.
What counts as an official McDonald’s endorsement?
Here, “endorsement” means a relationship McDonald’s itself documented: a celebrity-named menu item or Famous Order, or a broader promotional collaboration. An appearance in an advertisement alone is not enough to establish a formal endorsement. The examples below are documented cases, not a guaranteed complete list across every country and era.
McDonald’s has used different labels in different markets. The U.S. Famous Orders sequence is not the same thing as a worldwide chronology, and a campaign described as a market’s “first” applies to that market rather than to the company globally.
Dated examples in chronological order
1992 — Michael Jordan
In its 2020 Travis Scott announcement, McDonald’s said the last celebrity name featured on its menu had been in 1992, and that Michael Jordan had previously been the only celebrity to do so. That announcement does not provide the earlier item’s date beyond the year or describe its menu, so those details cannot be established from this source. McDonald’s announcement.

Stormzy (United Kingdom and Ireland)
McDonald’s UK and Ireland calls Stormzy its first Famous Order in those markets and says the meal would be available from February 12. The official page excerpt does not state the year, so it cannot be placed precisely in the chronology. Stormzy said he was excited for his order to be the first “Famous Order” in the UK and Ireland. McDonald’s UK and Ireland Famous Orders.
Why the list is not a definitive global roster
The sources establish several official collaborations, but they do not provide a complete archive covering every McDonald’s market and era. In particular, the UK and Ireland page confirms some names while leaving dates and menu details unspecified in the reviewed text. The most reliable reading is therefore a chronology of documented examples: Jordan is the predecessor McDonald’s identifies before Travis Scott; BTS was presented as a near-global signature order; and later campaigns could be firsts within specific regions or formats.
