The best new characters in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 are the ones who make the Culling Game feel personal as well as dangerous. Hiromi Higuruma leads this ranking for the way his former career as a lawyer shapes an instantly distinctive clash; Hajime Kashimo follows for his direct effect on the game’s rules. This is an editorial ranking, not an official list. “New” means new to the season’s anime adaptation, not new to the franchise or the manga.
Season 3 character and story details below are limited to information established in the anime-facing official profiles and season framing. Later plot revelations are avoided.
How this ranking works
The Culling Game is the central event of Season 3, and its new players bring different kinds of pressure to the story. Crunchyroll describes the season’s overarching event and identifies the anime as an adaptation of Gege Akutami’s manga in its Season 3 guide. The official character page supplies names and concise role descriptions; it does not rank them. The order here weighs four editorial criteria:
- Narrative impact: how much a character affects the protagonists’ immediate choices or the game’s direction.
- Technique originality: how distinctive and readable the ability is as a story device, based on what the anime-facing material establishes.
- First impression: how memorable the character feels through design, tone, and conflict.
- Protagonist pressure: how effectively the character creates a dilemma, exposes a weakness, or redirects Yuji or Megumi.
The best new Culling Game characters, ranked
1. Hiromi Higuruma
Higuruma’s former life as a lawyer gives him one of the season’s clearest character concepts: a man associated with law and judgment entering a contest built around survival. The official profile describes him as a modern sorcerer newly awakened as a Culling Game player and identifies his trial-like domain as “Deadly Sentencing” (wording may vary by localization). That judicial motif makes his first impression unusually strong without needing to reduce him to a standard combatant.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
He ranks first because his premise connects character, ability, and the arc’s stakes in one move. The official profile is brief, however, so it should not be treated as a complete account of the domain’s rules.
2. Hajime Kashimo
Kashimo is a reincarnated sorcerer from the past and a Culling Game player. The official profile says he uses 100 points to add a rule to the game. That choice gives him unusually direct narrative impact: he does not only enter the contest, but changes its structure. It is a compelling first impression for a character whose threat is communicated through action rather than a long explanation.
Rank #2
- 5-in-1 USB-C Hub: Experience comprehensive connectivity featuring a Power Delivery input, two USB-A 2.0 ports, a USB-A 3.0 port, and an HDMI port. (Note: The USB-C power delivery input port is only for connecting an external wall charger to power your laptop and cannot power peripheral devices.)
- 90W Pass-Through Charging: Achieve optimal charging with 90W pass-through power to your laptop, supported by a total input of 100W, with the hub reserving 10W for operational efficiency. (Note: Wall charger not included.)

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
3. Reggie Star
Reggie is another reincarnated sorcerer, but his appeal is strategic rather than purely confrontational. His official profile says he anticipates a major threat to the Culling Game and seeks capable allies. That coalition-building role introduces uncertainty about who can be trusted and what different players want. He earns a high place for offering a different kind of tension from a straightforward duel.
4. Fumihiko Takaba
Takaba’s past as a 35-year-old unsuccessful comedian makes him an immediate tonal contrast to an arc defined by lethal stakes. The official profile describes him as a newly awakened modern sorcerer. His comic identity is enough to make him memorable, while the clash between comedy and danger gives his arrival a distinct edge. The profile does not explain how his technique works, so this ranking does not speculate about its mechanics.

5. Rin Amai
Amai’s significance is grounded in his connection to Yuji. The official profile says he is a newly awakened player who was previously used as a subordinate by players preying on beginners, and that he comes from Yuji’s hometown and recognizes him. Amid the scale and rules of the Culling Game, that personal tie gives the story a more intimate angle. He ranks below the more game-altering entrants because his strongest hook is relational rather than structural.
6. Remi
Remi encounters Megumi after he enters Tokyo Colony No. 1. Her role invites a basic but effective Culling Game question: how much should a player trust another person’s guidance? The official profile establishes that encounter, while later developments can change how viewers interpret it. Keeping her lower in the ranking reflects the more limited, spoiler-safe first impression available from the profile.

Other players to watch
The official character page also lists entrants including Charles Bernard and Ryu Ishigori. They are part of the wider Culling Game cast, but this ranking focuses on the six players above because their profile descriptions offer clear, distinct hooks for evaluating their introductions. The official page does not designate a fixed set of “best” new characters.
