Simon John Ritchie, known professionally as Sid Vicious, was an English musician best known as the bassist for the English punk rock band, Sex Pistols. Vicious replaced Glen Matlock, who had fallen out of favor with the other members of the group.
He remains one of the most mythic figures of the 1970s punk explosion. Sid became famous for his edgy, rebellious persona and his self-destructive tendencies. Spiky hair, disheveled appearance, and bad attitude, Sid was the ideal person to join the punk group, Sex Pistols.
Punk icon, suspected murderer and heroin addict Sid Vicious died just days after getting released from RIkers Prison in New York City.
His girlfriend Nancy was found dead in their couple’s room, with a single stab wound to the abdomen. Sid was charged with the murder, but died of a heroin overdose while on bail before the case went to trial.
This documentary takes a look at his last 24 hours. How and why he ingested a massive amount of heroin into his recently drug free body. He was found dead the next morning. The video delves into his past to uncover the series of events that led to Sid Vicious’ death.
