Simon John Ritchie, known professionally as Sid Vicious, was an English musician best known as the bassist for the English punk rock band, Sex Pistols. Vicious replaced Glen Matlock, who had fallen out of favor with the other members of the group.
He remains one of the most mythic figures of the 1970s punk explosion. Sid became famous for his edgy, rebellious persona and his self-destructive tendencies. Spiky hair, disheveled appearance, and bad attitude, Sid was the ideal person to join the punk group, Sex Pistols.
