Have you ever wondered what North Korea is really like? Despite its secretive and closed-off nature, Lisa Ling was able to obtain rare access for a documentary that gives us a glimpse into the hermit kingdom. In this one-of-a-kind documentary, Lisa Ling takes viewers on an eye-opening journey inside North Korea, giving us an inside look into a country and society that is completely dominated by the government and its absolute dictator Kim Jong Il.
As an undercover medical coordinator posing as a tourist, Ling moves through the isolated nation, encountering people with personal stories of struggle and survival in this oppressive regime. She also highlights efforts by humanitarians to help those living in such dire conditions; struggles which are met with often insurmountable resistance from the government. We witness all of this firsthand through powerful footage and intimate accounts from those living in the country.
