Archaeological evidence is also used to illustrate how Jesus’ followers made sense of his death and embraced his mission without him being physically present. This period is full of remarkable stories and insights that were largely unknown until now, including an exploration of events such as Saul’s conversion on the road to Damascus.
As well as looking at people’s reactions to Jesus’ death, the documentary also delves deep into less explored aspects of Christian history. It examines some key figures such as Paul, who played a major role in shaping Christianity, as well as other influential early church leaders like Ignatius of Antioch. It goes on to explore how texts such as Matthew, Mark and Luke influenced later believers and how they shaped Christian thought for centuries to come.
