Yes, YouTube confirmed a discounted two-person Premium test in May 2025, but it is no longer accurate to describe the plan as only a test. YouTube’s current help page lists a Two-person plan in ten markets: Argentina, Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, France, Hong Kong, India, Laos, Nepal and Taiwan. The United States is not on that list. The plan is for two people in the same household, each using a separate Google account.
What is YouTube Premium’s Two-person plan?
YouTube’s documented name is Two-person plan. “Duo” is a handy informal label, but it is not necessarily the plan’s official product name. The subscription has a family manager and one additional household member. Both use their own Google accounts and keep separate recommendations, libraries, subscriptions and watch histories.

YouTube confirmed in May 2025 that it was testing a discounted two-person option in India, France, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Its current help page now describes the plan in a wider set of selected markets, though YouTube has not announced a worldwide rollout. TechCrunch reported the original test; YouTube’s support page describes current plan details.
Where is it available?
YouTube’s current Two-person plan page lists these ten countries and territories:

The United States is not included in the current official list. A U.S. reader should not assume the plan is available through ordinary U.S. signup. There is also an inconsistency on YouTube’s help page: its availability list names ten markets, while its requirements section names only India, France, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Australia. Check the YouTube Premium signup page while signed into the account that would manage the membership; local availability can differ or change.
How much does it cost?
YouTube describes the original offer as a reduced-cost way for two people to share Premium, but there is no verified universal price. Price depends on the market, currency, billing platform and applicable taxes. Do not apply a price quoted in one country to another, or infer a U.S. price when the U.S. is not listed as eligible.

- Two-person plan: the local Two-person price.
- Family plan: the local Family price.
Divide each plan’s price by the number of people who will actually use it to see the per-person cost. The Two-person option is worthwhile only if it beats the alternatives for your household; a Family plan may be better value if three or more people will use it.
What do members get—and what stays separate?
The plan shares Premium membership benefits, which can include ad-free YouTube viewing, background play, offline downloads and YouTube Music Premium access. The precise benefits can vary by market, service and plan, so check what is shown during signup. YouTube confirms that members use distinct accounts and retain separate personal libraries, subscriptions, recommendations and histories on its Two-person plan help page.
This is not simply permission for two people to share one Individual-plan password. With one account, viewing and personalization can become mixed together. The Two-person plan gives each person their own account experience while the household shares the membership.

Two-person vs Individual vs Family

For concurrent playback, YouTube documents up to two simultaneous streams for the Two-person plan. Family supports up to six, subject to applicable exceptions. Some content, including certain free movies, can have separate playback limits; see YouTube’s streaming limits. Several devices signed into one account do not count as several plan members.

The additional member must live in the same household as the family manager, and both people must be in a country where the plan is offered. In general, the manager must be at least 18 or meet the applicable local age requirement. Both people need Google accounts, and Google Workspace accounts cannot be used for this family-group setup.

Neither person can already belong to another Google family group, and users generally cannot have changed family groups in the previous 12 months. These restrictions can make the plan inconvenient if either person recently left or switched a family group. The plan is not intended for long-distance partners, friends at separate addresses or people in different countries. YouTube’s paid-service terms also prohibit misrepresenting the signup country or predominantly using Premium outside that country; a VPN is not a legitimate workaround. How to sign up and invite the second person
- Open the YouTube Premium signup page while signed into the Google account that will manage the subscription.
- Select Two-person plan if it appears, then confirm the billing details and select Subscribe.
- In the YouTube app, tap your profile picture, then open Settings and Purchases and memberships.
- Tap the membership, choose Edit beside Family sharing settings, then tap Invite partner.
- Enter the other person’s email address and select Send. The invitee uses their own Google account to join.
If the Two-person option does not appear, check the account’s billing country and the local signup page. The plan may not be enabled for that market or account. Other possible blockers include an existing family group, a recent family-group change, a Workspace account or regional inconsistencies in the payment profile. An app-store billing route may also show different options. Do not change your country details or use a VPN to bypass eligibility rules.

If you manage a Family membership, YouTube says you must cancel it before subscribing to the Two-person plan. Check your renewal date and the cancellation terms first; YouTube advises resubscribing at the end of the current billing cycle to avoid duplicate charges. Confirm when access ends and when the new plan would start before making the change.
Which plan makes sense?
- Choose Individual if only one person needs Premium, or if the second user lives elsewhere.
- Compare Two-person with two Individual plans if exactly two people share a household and the option appears in their market.
- Compare Family if three or more household members need access, or if its local price is close enough to the Two-person price to justify the extra capacity.
- Do not choose Two-person for people at separate addresses or in an unsupported country; the household requirement is part of the plan.
The key distinction is that the Two-person plan is a real, documented offer in selected markets, not a confirmed worldwide launch. Availability and price are local, the U.S. is not on YouTube’s current list, and the page’s country information is internally inconsistent. Check the signup page for the account and country you actually use before making a decision.
