If YouTube says “Daily live stream limit achieved,” your channel has reached its limit for creating streams in a 24-hour period. YouTube says to try again after 24 hours; changing your phone, encoder, network, or stream key does not reset a channel-level limit. Before waiting, check the exact error, feature eligibility, channel restrictions, and active-stream counts.
First, identify which limit you hit
Read the exact message in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room before changing equipment or settings. Stream errors appear beside the Health Indicator with timestamps, and an unresolved error continues to appear. The wording matters because a daily stream-creation limit, an active-stream cap, and a policy restriction have different causes and remedies. YouTube’s live streaming error guidance explains the daily cap: “To help make YouTube safer for everyone, we limit how many live streams a channel can create in a 24 hour period.”
- “Daily live stream limit achieved”: the channel has reached its daily stream-creation cap. YouTube says to try again after 24 hours.
- An active-stream error: the channel or stream key may already be at its simultaneous-stream limit. End streams you no longer intend to run.
- A restriction or eligibility error: check channel status, feature eligibility, and Studio notifications rather than retrying with different hardware.
Check your channel’s feature eligibility
- On a computer, open YouTube Studio.
- Go to Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility.
- Review the status shown for the relevant feature and whether the channel has access to the required level. YouTube says some features have limited versus higher daily limits depending on access level. YouTube’s feature access guidance describes the eligibility levels and requirements.
If you have intermediate access, YouTube may offer identity verification for advanced access. If you already have advanced access, YouTube says to wait 24 hours before using the feature again. Do not assume that phone verification alone always raises the live-stream limit: access requirements are feature-specific.
Confirm the baseline requirements for live streaming
YouTube’s general live-streaming guidance requires a verified channel and no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. Check Studio notifications and channel status if either condition may be an issue. These are general channel requirements, separate from mobile-app eligibility. YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance covers those baseline requirements.

If you are trying to stream from the YouTube mobile app
Mobile streaming has additional conditions. YouTube lists at least 50 subscribers, channel verification, no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days, and live streaming turned on. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours. These mobile requirements do not apply to streaming from a computer.
YouTube also says channels with 50–999 subscribers may have a mobile viewer limit, and mobile archives may be private by default. After a channel reaches 1,000 subscribers, removal of that viewer limitation may still take several weeks. These are mobile qualifications, not the daily stream-creation cap. YouTube’s current mobile live-streaming guidance lists the requirements and qualifications.

Check for too many active streams
YouTube states that a channel can have up to 10 active streams and a stream key can have up to 3 active streams at once. These simultaneous-stream caps are different from the number of streams a channel may create in a 24-hour period. Look for streams that are still active, including ones you no longer intend to use, and end them before trying again. See YouTube’s live-streaming getting-started guidance.
Check for a policy or copyright restriction
A policy restriction is not a daily cap, and waiting out a daily limit will not resolve an active restriction. YouTube says policy or copyright issues can disable live streaming. It also says a strike can block live streaming for 14 days. Review Studio notifications for the reason and status. Do not try to stream through another channel while an account restriction is active: YouTube identifies that as prohibited circumvention. YouTube’s error and restriction guidance explains these cases.

Does being in India change the general daily limit?
The cited YouTube guidance describes the general daily limit and feature eligibility in terms of channel or account status, not a separate India-only allowance. YouTube lists India among the countries where eligible creators can live-stream Playables, but that availability applies to that specific feature; it does not establish a different general daily cap. The exact allowance or enforcement state of an individual Indian channel is visible only through its signed-in Studio status, live dashboard, and notifications.
What to do if the message still appears
- Record the exact error text and timestamp from the Live Control Room.
- Check Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility and your Studio notifications.
- Confirm whether you are using mobile or computer streaming; apply the mobile requirements only if you are using the app.
- Check for active streams against the channel and stream-key caps.
- If the error is specifically the daily limit, wait the 24 hours YouTube specifies before trying again. Do not expect changing devices, encoders, networks, or stream keys to reset it.
Common causes and fixes
| What you see | Likely issue | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| “Daily live stream limit achieved” | The channel reached its stream-creation limit in a 24-hour period. | Wait 24 hours before trying again, as YouTube advises. Check feature eligibility for the account-specific status. |
| Cannot start another stream while others are running | The channel may have 10 active streams or the stream key 3 active streams. | End unintended active streams, then retry. |
| Computer streaming works differently from mobile, or mobile setup is unavailable | Mobile has separate eligibility conditions and first-time activation may take up to 24 hours. | Check the mobile requirements; do not treat them as prerequisites for computer streaming. |
| Live access disabled after a notice or strike | A policy or copyright restriction may be active. | Review Studio notifications and channel status. Do not use another channel to bypass the restriction. |
| Changing a camera, encoder, network, or key has no effect | The reported issue is channel-side rather than a production or ingestion problem. | Follow the relevant eligibility, active-stream, restriction, or waiting path above. |
