The full-frontal shower scene in You Can See Everything reportedly happened because Billy Evans, not the filmmakers, first raised the idea of filming his shower. Co-director Lance Oppenheim said he offered a way to shoot the scene without showing Evans’s genitals, but Evans replied that he did not care about being seen naked. Oppenheim has also stressed that he does not know why Evans agreed, so the exchange explains how the cameras were allowed in — not what Evans was thinking.
How did the full-frontal shower scene happen?
According to Oppenheim’s account to GQ, reproduced by TheWrap, the conversation began during a car ride back from the gym. Oppenheim said he told Evans that the crew would give him time to shower. Evans then asked whether the filmmakers wanted to film him showering.
Oppenheim said he suggested a less revealing approach that would avoid showing Evans’s genitals. Evans reportedly answered that he did not care about being seen naked. That reported exchange is the clearest explanation available for how the production obtained permission to record the moment.

The wording matters. Oppenheim described what Evans said and what he offered to do, but he did not claim to know Evans’s personal reason for agreeing. When asked why Evans accepted the arrangement, Oppenheim’s concise answer was: “I honestly don’t know.”

What did the crew capture in the bathroom?
The sequence was not recorded with a single hidden viewpoint. Oppenheim described a three-camera setup designed to follow the action and the reactions around it.
- One camera was positioned in the bathroom.
- A second camera was trained on Nathan Fielder.
- A third camera was placed outside the bathroom.
Oppenheim also pointed to a beat after Evans left the shower, when Evans looked toward one of the cameras and smiled. The director said he could not determine what that gesture meant. At most, he had an impression that Evans might have been enthusiastic about the film’s unusually complete access; that impression is not a confirmed account of Evans’s motives.
Was the scene planned as part of the film’s visual design?
The Washington Post places the memorable full-frontal sequence within the documentary’s first hour. Its reporting describes a production that changed its visual plan as filming progressed, rather than a project built from the outset around one provocative shot.

Oppenheim and Fielder initially considered a widescreen, single-camera concept. They added cameras so the edit could preserve facial reactions, then moved to a 4:3 frame. That change helps explain the film’s close, observational feel, but it does not by itself explain why Evans agreed to shower on camera. The reported production conversation does.
What is You Can See Everything about?
The documentary follows Elizabeth Holmes in the weeks before she began a 123-month federal prison sentence, according to The Washington Post. Holmes founded Theranos in 2003. The company reached a reported $9 billion valuation in 2015, and she was convicted of fraud in 2022.
Those stakes place the shower sequence within a film about extraordinary access to a central subject and the people around her. The scene’s shock comes from its directness, but the available reporting does not establish that it was staged, coerced, or intended to communicate a specific psychological message.

When was the documentary released, and how did it perform?
You Can See Everything opened in theaters on October 16, 2026, as reported by The Washington Post. Variety reported an opening weekend of $15.6 million from 855 theaters. After the film expanded to 2,655 venues, the reported total reached $19.5 million. These figures are contemporary box-office reports tied to the 2026 theatrical release, not a lifetime gross.
The theatrical rollout also means the shower scene was encountered in a cinema context rather than introduced as an isolated online clip. Coverage that separates the scene from the documentary’s broader structure can miss how the filmmakers use proximity, reaction shots, and changing camera positions throughout the film.
What can be said confidently about Evans’s consent?
The reported facts support a narrow conclusion: Evans asked whether the crew wanted to film his shower, heard an offer to avoid nudity, and reportedly said he was comfortable being seen naked. They do not establish the terms of any written release, whether anyone revisited the decision later, or what Evans hoped the scene would convey.

That distinction is important when discussing a highly personal image. The production account describes an on-the-spot conversation and a camera arrangement; it does not provide a verified explanation of Evans’s internal motivation. Oppenheim’s own “I honestly don’t know” is a boundary on what the filmmakers can responsibly claim.

How long is a 123-month prison sentence?
Converted arithmetically, 123 months equals 10 years and three months. The sentence is reported in months because that is the term used in the court and contemporary coverage.
Did the filmmakers identify the camera models used?
No camera make or model is identified in the reporting about the shower sequence. The described details concern placement — inside, outside, and on Fielder — rather than equipment specifications.
