That distinction matters because YouTube has periodically used prominent, temporary graphics to spotlight creator communities. The same report references earlier treatments associated with “GRWM” (Get Ready With Me) content in 2023 and Roblox developers in 2025. This suggests an editorial promotion pattern, not a formally announced replacement of the logo.
Why watercolor, and why “today”?
The immediate purpose appears to have been helping viewers discover watercolor creators and tutorials. However, no verified anniversary, product launch or holiday was identified as the reason for the March 23 timing. Google Doodles are primarily Google Search homepage treatments commemorating people, dates or events. This was a YouTube-specific promotion for video content. - Open YouTube directly, rather than through an unfamiliar third-party link.
- Note where the graphic appears: homepage, app icon, browser tab, player or a particular channel.
- Click it only if it stays within YouTube; a genuine promotion should lead to a YouTube page or curated collection.
- Compare the official website with the current Android or iOS app, and try a private browser window if the image looks corrupted.
- Update the app if an icon is incomplete or distorted.
- Do not download software or enter credentials because of an unexplained logo. Investigate account security separately if you also see unfamiliar logins or other warning signs.
