The work gave them a shared musical history years before Gomez publicly confirmed their romance.
Reports around the December 2023 confirmation described the pair as having known each other for years. Gomez had therefore worked with Blanco and known him personally before the public announcement; the exact point at which their professional friendship became a romantic relationship was not publicly specified in the supplied accounts.

What does Benny Blanco do?
Blanco’s career has several distinct parts:
Producer and songwriter
He has written or produced music associated with Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Halsey, Maroon 5, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Kesha, Sia, The Weeknd and Selena Gomez, among others. This side of his work is the foundation of his reputation: he helps develop songs and recordings for other performers, often without appearing as the lead artist.
Solo recording artist
Blanco also releases music under his own name. His solo catalogue includes the albums FRIENDS KEEP SECRETS and FRIENDS KEEP SECRETS 2. “Eastside,” with Halsey and Khalid, and “Lonely,” with Justin Bieber, are among the songs identified with that artist career.

Actor and author
Interscope’s biography also identifies Blanco as an actor. He has expanded his public work into publishing, with the books Open Wide: A Cookbook for Friends and F*ck Failure listed among his projects.
Which artists has Benny Blanco worked with?
His credited collaborators cover mainstream pop, R&B and adjacent genres. The named list includes Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Halsey, Maroon 5, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Kesha, Sia, The Weeknd and Selena Gomez. The breadth matters because Blanco’s role has changed from project to project: he may be a writer, a producer, a featured performer, or a combination of those roles.

Published totals differ because they come from different dates and databases. BMI’s April 25, 2024 press release listed 29 number-one songs, 11 Grammy nominations and 55 BMI Awards. The Recording Academy’s database, accessed in 2026, lists 12 Grammy nominations after adding a 2026 nomination for “Bluest Flame,” credited to Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco.
| Figure | Source and date | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| 29 number-one songs | BMI, April 2024 | A BMI-reported career figure, not a current streaming count. |
| 11 Grammy nominations | BMI, April 2024 | The total in that contemporaneous press release. |
| 55 BMI Awards | BMI, April 2024 | BMI’s award count at the time of the release. |
| 12 Grammy nominations | Recording Academy database, accessed 2026 | A later total that includes the 2026 “Bluest Flame” nomination. |
Because nominations can be added after an older biography or press release is published, the date belongs with each number. Calling one figure “the” permanent total would erase that difference in timing.
BMI vice president of worldwide creative Barbara Cane described Blanco’s contributions as “unparalleled” in the organization’s April 2024 release. That is an institutional assessment, while the nomination and award counts are the measurable figures reported by the named sources.
What is Benny Blanco’s solo music?
Blanco’s solo identity is represented by FRIENDS KEEP SECRETS and FRIENDS KEEP SECRETS 2. The records combine his songwriting and production background with a performer role, using guest artists such as Halsey, Khalid and Justin Bieber. “Eastside” and “Lonely” show how his solo releases can still function as collaborations rather than strictly unassisted vocal performances.

A Simon & Schuster author page said the two solo albums had generated more than 11 billion streams by the time that page was accessed in 2026. The same page attributed hundreds of millions of album sales to his production work. Those are publisher-page career figures, so they should not be read as an independently audited current tally.
What is Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s joint album?
I Said I Love You First is Gomez and Blanco’s first joint album, released in 2025. It provides a shared musical project separate from their earlier individual credits and from the 2019 song on which they first worked together in the public record.
Interscope lists standard and exclusive physical editions, including candy-cane-red vinyl and CD formats. The album can therefore be approached as a streaming listen, a physical music purchase or a document of the couple’s creative partnership; availability of a particular edition can change by market and over time.
What books has Benny Blanco written?
Blanco’s publishing work includes Open Wide: A Cookbook for Friends and F*ck Failure. The first connects his food and hosting persona with a practical cookbook format, while the second is presented as a book about failure and creative life. His official Linktree lists both titles, but the supplied information does not establish publication dates, sales figures or a complete table of contents.

The clearest way to separate the public facts is to look at three different axes rather than treating every credit as the same kind of work:

| Axis | Blanco’s role | Representative evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Producer/songwriter versus solo artist | Creates and shapes recordings for other performers, then releases music under his own name. | Work with Sheeran, Bieber, Rihanna and others; FRIENDS KEEP SECRETS albums. |
| Relationship milestones versus collaborative music | Personal events and creative projects overlap but are not interchangeable. | Public relationship confirmation in 2023, engagement in 2024, wedding in 2025; “I Can’t Get Enough” in 2019 and I Said I Love You First in 2025. |
| Books versus music formats | His public output includes both reading or cooking projects and recorded music. | Open Wide and F*ck Failure; streaming, vinyl and CD editions of the joint album. |
This framework explains why a short description such as “producer” is accurate but incomplete. Blanco’s professional identity includes the behind-the-scenes work that built his credits, the solo releases that put him in front of the microphone, the label ventures that give him executive influence and the books that extend his public persona beyond recordings.
What facts about the couple are most likely to change?
The marriage date and location are fixed historical facts, but public biographies, award totals and retail editions can change as databases are updated and stock rotates. The Recording Academy’s 12-nomination total is newer than BMI’s 11-nomination figure from 2024, and a future awards update could change the Academy count again.
Likewise, Interscope’s listing of candy-cane-red vinyl and CD editions confirms those formats were identified for the album, not that every edition remains available in every country. Readers checking a physical release should verify the current regional listing rather than assume that an older edition is still in stock.
