The fastest way to watch Tom Cruise’s Olympic stunt is the official NBC Sports standalone clip. For the complete event, watch the official Olympics replay of the full Paris 2024 Closing Ceremony. Cruise’s stadium rappel appears near the end, during the Paris-to-Los Angeles handover.
The ceremony took place at the Stade de France on August 11, 2024. It was part of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics—not the 2026 Winter Olympics. The roof descent and flag handoff were performed live during the ceremony; the motorcycle journey through Paris, aircraft sequence and Los Angeles arrival were pre-recorded film inserted into the broadcast.

Where Cruise appears in the full ceremony
If you open the complete Olympics replay, do not search for a separate sport or event called the Tom Cruise stunt. The sequence is part of the closing ceremony’s final LA28 handover, after the ceremony’s formal and artistic sections. Move toward the end of the video and look for the transition from Paris 2024 to Los Angeles 2028.

The full replay is the better choice if you want to see how the stunt connects to the rest of the handoff. The NBC Sports uploads are more convenient if the only goal is to watch Cruise’s appearance without sitting through the entire ceremony.
What happens in the stunt?
Cruise appears at the Stade de France after the ceremony begins its handover to Los Angeles. He rappels, or abseils, from the stadium roof into the arena rather than simply jumping from it. The live stadium sequence includes the Olympic flag handoff involving gymnast Simone Biles and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. Cruise then attaches the flag to a motorcycle and rides out of the stadium.
The broadcast cuts from that live appearance to a pre-recorded action sequence. In the film, Cruise rides through Paris, boards an aircraft and parachutes toward Los Angeles. The sequence ends at the Hollywood sign, which has been visually changed to include the Olympic rings. The handoff then continues with Los Angeles athletes and performances by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. The Washington Post’s account of the ceremony also distinguishes the live stadium appearance from the filmed travel sequence.

Cruise was genuinely present at the stadium for the live portion. The entire journey shown in the montage was not happening live at the same time; the filmed Los Angeles material was edited into the ceremony broadcast.

It was the Paris 2024 Olympics Closing Ceremony, held on August 11, 2024, at the Stade de France. The ceremony handed the Olympic presentation from Paris to Los Angeles, host city of the 2028 Summer Olympics. It was not connected to the 2026 Winter Olympics.
That date matters because many search results still use wording such as “how to watch live.” Those pages describe the original broadcast and should not be read as current schedules. The NBC viewing guide, for example, is useful historical information, but the event itself has already taken place.

NBC also listed NBCOlympics.com, NBC.com, the NBC app and the NBC Olympics app as authenticated streaming options. The NBC Sports press release confirms the original NBC and Peacock schedule.
Peacock was a live destination for the 2024 Olympics, including the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. That historical guidance does not by itself confirm that Peacock still has the complete 2024 closing ceremony in its current on-demand catalog. The official Olympics YouTube replay is the stronger current starting point.
United Kingdom
The BBC originally offered the ceremony on BBC One, BBC iPlayer, the BBC Sport website and the BBC Sport app. The BBC’s surviving Paris 2024 viewing and recap page records Cruise’s appearance, while its closing-ceremony live report provides additional coverage.

France Télévisions broadcast the ceremony on France 2 and made Olympics material available through france.tv. Its closing-ceremony video hub contains individual excerpts, including the Cruise segment. The direct France.tv Cruise clip is the most useful French-language alternative if you want only the descent and flag sequence.
Canada and Australia
CBC was the Canadian broadcaster for Paris 2024, while Nine and 9Now carried Australian coverage. These were original broadcast routes, but the available information does not verify that a complete closing-ceremony replay remains accessible on CBC Gem or 9Now. Treat them as historical broadcasters rather than guaranteed current replay destinations. What to do if a video is unavailable
- Try the other official upload. If the Olympics full replay is blocked, open the NBC Sports Cruise clip or the NBC Sports roof-stunt clip. Different channels can have different territorial rights arrangements.

Choose the NBC Sports roof-stunt video or France.tv excerpt if the live stadium descent is the part you care about most. Neither should be confused with a full-length closing-ceremony replay.
