The Rookie Season 8, Episode 6 Review: What “Burn 4 Love” Is Really Teasing

The Rookie Season 8, Episode 6, “Burn 4 Love,” centers on a Valentine’s Day arsonist—not an officially confirmed serial-killer return. ABC’s synopsis pairs that case with Celina’s attempt to break what she believes is Miles’s run of cursed bad luck. The episode aired in the U.S. on February 9, 2026.

What is “Burn 4 Love” about?

ABC’s official synopsis sets up two strands: the team hunts an arsonist setting fires on Valentine’s Day, while Celina believes Miles’s recent bad luck is a curse and tries to break it. The synopsis does not identify the arsonist as a serial killer or say that a familiar killer returns.

That contrast gives the episode a clear procedural-and-character structure. The fire investigation supplies the urgent case, while Celina and Miles’s subplot brings a more personal, lightly superstitious counterpoint. As a review judgment, the pairing works best when those different tones provide variety rather than compete for the same dramatic weight.

Does the episode tease a serial killer’s return?

Not on the evidence of ABC’s Episode 6 synopsis. Its stated threat is a Valentine’s Day arsonist. A separate thread involving Liam Glasser may explain why the episode has been framed around a dangerous killer: ABC’s later synopsis for “Aftermath” mentions the Glasser case and a familiar face helping the team track a killer. That later-season description provides context for an ongoing story, but it does not establish that Glasser returns in “Burn 4 Love,” or that Episode 6 itself is about a serial killer coming back.

Rotten Tomatoes carries a Collider critic’s reaction to the Glasser thread: “The fact that Glasser might walk is incredibly terrifying, especially because he’s one of the most brutal villains The Rookie has had.” That is a critic’s assessment of the possibility that Glasser could walk free, not an official episode description or confirmation that he is a serial killer.

How the episode’s storylines fit together

  • Procedural case: The arson investigation gives the hour its central danger and forward motion, according to the official synopsis.
  • Character subplot: Celina’s effort to undo Miles’s supposed curse adds a personal, less grim register alongside the fires.
  • Longer-running tension: The Glasser discussion belongs to a broader thread, but the available episode description does not show that it drives this installment’s arson case.

For viewers expecting an episode built around a returning serial killer, that distinction matters. “Burn 4 Love” is described as a case-of-the-week arson story with a character subplot; the Glasser material is a reason to watch the season’s continuing story, not proof of the headline’s specific promise.
