Yudelmis San Emeterio, who posted her digital makeovers on TikTok as vanotyarts, reimagined familiar Disney characters with contemporary styling while aiming to preserve the look and texture of the original artwork. In a 2020 example, she gave Aurora pigtails, stronger eyeliner, reshaped eyebrows and a blue dress.

Who made the Disney princess makeovers?

The artist is Yudelmis San Emeterio. Emerald Pellot’s Yahoo Lifestyle report, updated July 16, 2020, identifies her TikTok account as vanotyarts. San Emeterio told BuzzFeed, as quoted in Pellot’s article: “When I saw people giving makeovers to Disney characters, I couldn’t help myself!”

What did she change about Aurora?

For the Aurora makeover described in the report, San Emeterio altered several elements of the character’s styling:

  • Hair: Aurora’s long hair became two pigtails, accented with a blue clip.
  • Makeup and brows: San Emeterio added heavier eyeliner and reshaped her eyebrows.
  • Outfit: Aurora received a blue spaghetti-strap dress.

How did San Emeterio make the digital makeover?

The report says she drew over an image using a tablet and stylus. It does not identify the device brand or model, or the software she used, so those details cannot be established from the account of this example.

How did the makeovers retain the original look?

The changes give Aurora a contemporary appearance, but San Emeterio said she wanted to keep the transformation “as close as possible to the style and texture of the original art.” That aim places the makeover between a new styling concept and a visual reinterpretation: the character’s look changes while the source artwork remains the reference point. The report describes the artist’s approach; it does not establish that Disney endorsed or authorized the work.

What is known about the video’s popularity?

Pellot’s July 16, 2020 article reported that one of San Emeterio’s most viral videos had received over 12.4 million views at that time. That is a historical figure for a video, not a current view count for the video or account. The report does not establish her present TikTok activity, audience size or total views.
