Which one should you choose?
Choose Streamlabs if you want a bundled desktop workflow
Streamlabs is the more direct fit if you want to use its desktop app, or bring its tools into OBS through the Streamlabs plugin. Its feature set includes Cloudbot, a tip page, and overlays and widgets, with additional options—including multistreaming—listed under Ultra. Check the current plan details to see whether the features you need are included in the free offering or require Ultra.
Choose StreamElements if you prefer cloud-managed overlays
StreamElements is a natural fit if you want to edit overlays online and add them to broadcasting software as a browser source. Its documented toolkit also includes customizable alerts, chatbot commands and filters, loyalty functions, and tipping features. The company advertises its alerts and widgets as free; confirm the current terms for the features and services you plan to use.

There is no established winner on performance
The available product descriptions do not establish which service uses fewer computer resources, fails less often, or is easier to operate in practice. They also do not provide a controlled comparison of chatbot reliability or overlay quality. Treat workflow preference and the exact features you need as the decision criteria rather than assuming one performs better.

OBS and setup
Streamlabs describes its desktop product as built on the OBS engine and offers a separate plugin for using Streamlabs tools within OBS. StreamElements documents a cloud overlay editor whose output is loaded into broadcasting software as a browser source. If you already have a settled OBS workflow, consider whether you want an integrated desktop app, a plugin, or separately managed browser-source overlays. Check the relevant setup documentation before rebuilding scenes.

Overlays, widgets, and alerts
Both services offer overlays and alerts. Streamlabs’ plan page describes hundreds of free overlay and widget themes and dozens of widgets on its free plan, with thousands of overlays and additional options for Ultra. StreamElements advertises customizable alerts and widgets as free and documents themes and an overlay manager. Those counts and free-feature descriptions come from the companies; they do not establish which designs are better or which editor you will prefer. Preview the available assets and confirm current plan terms before choosing based on a particular overlay or widget.
Chat and community tools
Streamlabs lists Cloudbot moderation and interaction tools, and identifies custom bot naming as an Ultra feature. StreamElements’ quick-start guide lists commands, modules, timers, spam filters, and loyalty integration. The feature lists indicate available categories of tools, but they are not a head-to-head test of moderation quality or reliability. Compare the specific commands and controls you need for your community.

Tipping and payment costs
Streamlabs says its free tier includes a tip page and that “we don’t take a cut.” That is the company’s statement about its tip page; it does not establish whether a payment processor or other party charges transaction fees. StreamElements documents a tipping page and tip alerts, but the reviewed pages do not establish a comparable complete fee schedule. Before directing viewers to either service, check the current payment terms, processing charges, and availability for your country.
Plans and sponsorship features
Streamlabs lists multistreaming, expanded overlays and app access, and sponsorship opportunities in its App Store among Ultra features. StreamElements advertises sponsorship offers and says sponsors are vetted. These are platform descriptions, not guarantees of sponsorship eligibility, placement, or income. The reviewed pages do not establish current exact Streamlabs Ultra prices, a complete StreamElements paid-plan inventory, or country-specific eligibility; check each company’s current terms for your location.
