On December 17, 2025, TechRadar reported that a low-quality recording of the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer had appeared online. The same report said information about the next two Avengers: Doomsday teasers had surfaced. TechRadar did not share links to leaked videos or screenshots.
The headline’s claim that Marvel and Sony were “frantically” battling leaks is characterization, not a verified account of the studios’ internal response. The contemporaneous reports described footage circulating and copies being removed; they did not provide a direct studio statement confirming the incident or its scope.
How certain was the Spider-Man trailer leak?
GamesRadar+ also reported on December 17, 2025 that a trailer appeared online ahead of time and that copyright strikes were taking down copies. It cautioned that the clip was difficult to verify conclusively. Takedowns supported the contemporaneous account that copies were being removed; they were not, by themselves, an official Sony authentication of the footage.

That distinction matters: “reported leak” describes what outlets said was circulating, while “official trailer” means material published through an authorized studio channel. The December coverage did not prove the authenticity of every copy or every detail attributed to it.

Brand New Day
Sony Pictures Japan announced a trailer release and a July 31, 2026 theatrical date for Japan and the United States on March 18, 2026. Sony’s official film page now identifies Brand New Day as the fourth film featuring Tom Holland as Spider-Man and the last MCU release before Avengers: Doomsday. Sony lists the film as available digitally from October 6, 2026 through major retailers, including Apple TV, Prime Video, Fandango, and Sony Pictures Core. Marvel published an official Doctor Doom teaser and poster announcement for Avengers: Doomsday on July 20, 2026. That later announcement establishes what Marvel officially released on that date; it does not retroactively verify every claim about teaser footage or details that circulated in December 2025. How to distinguish a leak report from an official trailer
- Check who published it. A clip embedded or described by an entertainment outlet is not the same as a trailer on an official Sony or Marvel page.
- Check the date. The leak reports were published December 17, 2025; the subsequent Sony and Marvel releases came later.
- Separate evidence from authentication. Reports of circulation or copyright takedowns do not amount to a studio confirmation that every clip is genuine.
- Use authorized pages for the released material. Sony’s trailer page and Marvel’s official announcement are stronger sources for what the studios actually published.
