What is the game about?
The official premise places the player in the abandoned workshop and maze-like spaces of Murray’s Costume Manor, where they investigate the unfinished work of reclusive inventor Edwin Murray. The Mimic is described as a prototype endoskeleton able to adapt to costumes and take on different characters—including what the player fears most. Players use gadgets, follow cryptic clues, seek Fazbear prototype technology, and evade the creature. These are details from the game’s official descriptions, not an independent claim about how its behavior works during play. See the Steam listing and PlayStation product page.

Can you play Secret of the Mimic in VR?
Yes. On PS5, PS VR2 is an optional way to play; the PlayStation listing also identifies standard one-player, offline play. Steel Wool says the PS VR2 update launched April 28, 2026. Steam marks the PC version “VR Supported,” and Steel Wool says its PC VR update arrived May 20, 2026. Steam lists Valve Index and Meta Quest 2, 3, and Pro when used through SteamVR and Steam Link. See PlayStation’s listing, the Steam listing, and Steel Wool’s Steam announcements.
VR movement and setup
The VR version does not support room-scale play. Steel Wool’s VR instructions say to stay within the play boundary and use the game’s locomotion instead of walking around the room. For PC VR, adjust refresh rate in SteamVR when using Steam Link or Index; Quest Link and Air Link users should manage it in the Meta Horizon Link desktop settings. The same instructions note that mods are not officially supported and may cause crashes or broken features.
