Marvel’s reported plan for Avengers: Doomsday was unusual: four different teasers were set to rotate weekly in theaters during Avatar: Fire and Ash’s run, spreading early reveals across successive weeks. That campaign is now historical. Marvel released the film’s official public trailer on July 20, 2026.
What was different about the reported trailer plan?
GamesRadar+ reported on December 15, 2025, summarizing coverage by The Hollywood Reporter, that four different Avengers: Doomsday teasers would rotate weekly in theaters during Avatar: Fire and Ash. Rather than relying on one teaser in that theatrical window, the reported approach would give moviegoers different previews in successive weeks. This was a reported campaign plan, not an official Marvel announcement in the cited account. GamesRadar+’s report
Why were four teasers reportedly planned?
GamesRadar+’s summary of The Hollywood Reporter’s reporting said the strategy was intended to encourage dedicated fans to return to Avatar: Fire and Ash screenings. That is the reported promotional rationale, not a verified direct quote from a Marvel or Disney decision-maker. The cited coverage does not establish whether the plan increased repeat attendance or otherwise succeeded.
How did the campaign differ from a conventional trailer release?
| Aspect | Reported 2025 theatrical plan | Public trailer release |
|---|---|---|
| Distribution and timing | Four teasers reportedly rotated weekly in theaters during Avatar: Fire and Ash. | Marvel published an official public trailer online on July 20, 2026. |
| Reported promotional purpose | Encourage dedicated fans to return to theatrical screenings, according to trade-reporting summaries. | A public trailer makes a preview broadly accessible; the cited sources do not state a specific promotional objective for this release. |
| Measured results | Not established by the cited sources. | Not established by the cited sources. |
The comparison is about distribution and stated purpose, not performance: the available reporting does not measure audience behavior or show that one approach worked better. Marvel Entertainment’s official trailer

Is the four-teaser rotation still happening?
No. The weekly theater rotation was a reported 2025 plan. Marvel Entertainment published an official public trailer on July 20, 2026, and Disney later reported that an extended look appeared with Avengers: Endgame: Encore on September 29, 2026. That later footage is a separate promotional appearance; it does not show that the four-teaser rotation is ongoing. The Walt Disney Company’s September 29 announcement
