Lady Gaga’s March 8, 2025, Saturday Night Live episode put her in both roles: host and musical guest. The result mixed formal performances with sketches that used her singing, dance, and theatrical persona—including a rideable-suitcase rom-com and a Weekend Update appearance by Mikey Day as Lord Gaga.
Which episode featured Lady Gaga in both roles?
NBC lists the broadcast as Saturday Night Live Season 50, Episode 15, airing March 8, 2025. The Associated Press reported that it was Gaga’s second time hosting and fifth time as musical guest. Her album Mayhem had been released the day before, giving the musical portions a timely connection to her new work. NBC’s episode listing and the Associated Press announcement establish the date and context.
What stood out in the sketches?
Rideable luggage meets a rom-com setup
A recurring strength of a double-duty episode is that the guest can carry music into the comedy. Peacock’s recap highlights a romantic-comedy sketch involving rideable suitcases; the Los Angeles Times describes the premise as a woman leaving for culinary school in France. The sketch’s musical framing lets Gaga play to her performance strengths while remaining inside a comic story.
Musical comedy and named sketches
The official Peacock recap points to sketches tied to songs from Mayhem and a first-date song-and-dance scenario. The Television Academy’s 2025 ballot names “Pip,” “No More Slay,” and “Wonderful Tonight.” Those titles identify notable episode material, but they do not by themselves establish a full sketch order or an exhaustive list of segments.

Lord Gaga on Weekend Update
Weekend Update included Mikey Day as Lord Gaga, discussing his support for his wife. The official SNL YouTube clip features the character. This appearance gives the episode a different comic angle: Gaga’s persona becomes the setup for a cast-member performance rather than a musical turn by Gaga herself.
How did the episode balance comedy and music?
It helps to separate Gaga’s work within sketches from her formal musical-guest performances. In sketches, songs and choreography served a comic premise; the musical-guest role was the episode’s dedicated performance slot. The available episode descriptions and reviews do not establish a complete set list or segment sequence, so this recap does not treat the named sketches as a full rundown.

Critics agreed more readily on Gaga’s range than on the episode as a whole. The Los Angeles Times praised her ability to move among singing, dancing, and comedy. The Guardian was more measured about the sketches overall, characterizing the episode as middle-of-the-road while crediting Gaga’s work in both comedy and music. Together, the reviews suggest a strong central performer without a uniformly acclaimed set of sketches.
