Blue Ivy Carter voices Kiara, the daughter of Simba and Nala, while her mother, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, voices Nala in Mufasa: The Lion King. Disney’s official full trailer, released August 9, 2024, identifies both roles.
Blue Ivy and Beyoncé play a mother and daughter
The connection is built into the characters: Blue Ivy voices Kiara, and Beyoncé voices Nala, Kiara’s mother. Disney’s April 29, 2024 announcement introduced the casting and described Kiara as the daughter of Simba and Nala. Disney’s D23 announcement also identifies Beyoncé as Nala.
Disney’s official trailer listing names Blue Ivy as Kiara and Beyoncé as Nala. The casting makes their family relationship visible in the film, rather than merely pairing the two performers in the same cast.

Where Mufasa fits into the story
The film is an origin story told through flashbacks. Disney’s synopsis says Mufasa begins as an orphaned cub, lost and alone, before meeting Taka, an heir to a royal bloodline. The story therefore centers on Mufasa’s earlier life, while Kiara and her parents provide the family connection highlighted by this casting. Disney’s U.S. film page lists the movie and cast; the Disney Middle East listing gives the same basic premise.

Disney+’s film listing provides its current service information.
