Charli XCX hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time on November 16, 2024, while also making her third appearance as musical guest. The Season 50, Episode 7 broadcast built nearly everything around the singer’s Brat-era persona, pairing fashion and pop-culture satire with performances of “360” and “Sympathy Is a Knife.”

Her previous SNL musical-guest appearances were in 2014 and 2022. The booking followed the Brat album cycle and the conclusion of the Sweat Tour with Troye Sivan.
How the episode used Charli’s “Brat” persona
The show treated “brat” less as a single joke than as a visual and comic language: celebrity fashion, nightlife references, exaggerated confidence and deliberately chaotic performance energy. Charli’s real pop identity supplied the connective tissue, so the sketches and songs felt like parts of one themed episode rather than separate celebrity cameos.
Politics appeared mainly at the edges. The cold open focused on a Trump-meets-Biden premise, and a later sketch mocked podcaster-style personalities receiving Cabinet and ambassador appointments. Most of the running time instead went to entertainment, celebrity impressions and Brat-adjacent culture.

Political opening
The broadcast began with political satire built around an encounter between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. It established the usual topical frame before the episode moved toward pop culture.
Charli’s “what is brat?” introduction
In her monologue, Charli joked about the meaning of Brat, drew on teenage rave experiences and called herself a “triple threat.” She also made Auto-Tune part of the joke. Kyle Mooney appeared in the “what is brat?” section, giving the explanation an intentionally bewildered counterpoint.
The main sketches
Babymoon
This sequel to the Ariana Grande episode’s “Bridesmaid Speech” continued the Kelsey, Andrew and Domingo storyline. Charli played Kelsey’s cousin, and the sketch incorporated a parody of Chappell Roan’s “Hot to Go!”

Charli impersonated Adele and Troye Sivan while Bowen Yang played Charli herself. Chloe Fineman, Ego Nwodim, Sarah Sherman and Marcello Hernández added further impressions, turning the audition premise into a rapid showcase of celebrity voices and mannerisms.

Thanksgiving Baking Championship
As Giuliana, a British baker, Charli presented a turkey cake that disgorged stuffing. Andrew Dismukes hosted the competition, with Ego Nwodim, Michael Longfellow and Ashley Padilla serving as judges.
“Here I Go” digital short
Andy Samberg played an extreme NIMBY in the digital short “Here I Go.” Charli appeared as his wife and supplied a guest verse, extending the episode’s music-and-character crossover beyond the live sketches.

Banger Boyz podcast
Charli played Kara, the producer of the fictional Banger Boyz podcast. Her job was to read deliberately absurd fake sponsors, parodying the polished ad breaks and exaggerated confidence associated with bro-podcast culture.
Acting Class
Marcello Hernández played an intense acting teacher, while Charli played star student Alyssa. The joke centered on her increasingly committed line readings for a commercial audition.
It Girl Thanksgiving Special
Charli portrayed Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham in a gathering of celebrity “it girls.” Bowen Yang played Marc Jacobs and Chloe Fineman played Julia Fox. A catwalk staged on top of a dining table supplied the sketch’s visual centerpiece.

Please Don’t Destroy cut-for-time video
A promised Please Don’t Destroy video did not make the live broadcast. It was released online afterward and featured Charli with the comedy trio, giving viewers an additional piece of the episode rather than an alternate version of a broadcast sketch.
