Who plays Carmy?
Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto — Jeremy Allen White
Jeremy Allen White plays Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, an acclaimed chef who returns to Chicago to run his late brother’s restaurant. Carmy’s perfectionism, grief and leadership decisions create the series’ central pressure. He is both the kitchen’s highest culinary authority and the family member most visibly wrestling with what the restaurant represents.
Who is Sydney Adamu?
Sydney Adamu — Ayo Edebiri
Ayo Edebiri plays Sydney Adamu, a talented chef whose ambitions and partnership with Carmy shape the restaurant’s direction. Sydney is not part of the Berzatto family, which gives her a distinct professional stake: she must build authority in the kitchen while deciding how closely her future should remain tied to Carmy’s vision.

Ebon Moss-Bachrach plays Richard “Richie” Jerimovich. Richie is the Berzattos’ longtime friend and the restaurant’s front-of-house leader. Sugar and the Berzatto family
Natalie “Sugar” Berzatto — Abby Elliott
Abby Elliott plays Natalie “Sugar” Berzatto, Carmy and Michael’s sister. As a practical co-owner, Sugar links the restaurant’s finances and obligations to the family’s history. Her role is less about cooking than making decisions that keep the business and the people around it viable.

The professional triangle
Carmy, Sydney and Richie are the central professional triangle. Carmy sets the culinary standard, Sydney is his ambitious partner in the kitchen, and Richie represents the front-of-house experience. Their disagreements are fundamentally about what the restaurant should become and who gets to define that future.
Family, ownership and responsibility
Sugar connects that working triangle to the Berzatto family and the business itself. Carmy’s return is personal as well as professional, while Sugar must turn family responsibility into workable ownership decisions. Richie’s longtime friendship gives him a family-like position without making him a Berzatto.

Is season five the final season?
Yes. FX currently frames season five as the final season. Its official setup begins after Carmy leaves the food industry, with Sydney, Richie and Natalie confronting the restaurant’s future. That is a spoiler-light status update; it does not reveal episode outcomes.
The Walt Disney Company describes the story as beginning after Carmy quits the food industry, leaving Sydney, Richie and Natalie with the restaurant. FX’s official season logline for season four described Carmy, Sydney and Richie as pushing forward to take The Bear to the next level.
