For a typical SDR music playlist, start with OBS at 1080p30 or 1080p60, H.264, CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval, and AAC stereo at 44.1 kHz. Choose a bitrate your internet connection can sustain—not simply the highest setting available. Before configuring the stream, confirm you have permission to broadcast every song and visual: YouTube scans live streams for third-party content and may interrupt or terminate a broadcast after a match.
Before you set up OBS: clear the music rights
Telugu film songs may involve separate rights in the sound recording, composition, performance, and film footage or artwork. The rights needed can vary by track and territory. Buying a song, owning a personal copy, finding it online, or giving credit does not by itself establish permission to retransmit it in a livestream.
YouTube says all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content. A match may replace the stream image, trigger a warning, or interrupt or terminate the broadcast. If you have licensed third-party content, YouTube advises asking the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Archived live streams may also receive Content ID claims after the broadcast. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams. Get permission for every song and visual you plan to broadcast, and arrange Content ID allowlisting with the rights holder before going live. This is practical guidance, not legal advice or a guarantee that one license covers all rights or territories.
Choose OBS settings your connection and computer can handle
There is no single best profile for every computer or internet connection. YouTube recommends testing your upload bitrate and choosing a quality that remains reliable. Its figures below are encoder recommendations, not guarantees about what a particular connection can sustain. They are YouTube’s published H.264 figures accessed on October 3, 2026; check the current YouTube encoder settings before a broadcast because guidance can change.

For an ordinary SDR playlist, use H.264, CBR, and a 2-second keyframe interval. YouTube supports RTMP/RTMPS ingestion, H.264, H.265, and AV1, and recommends a keyframe frequency of 2 seconds (not over 4 seconds). For a typical stereo music stream, its advanced recommendation is AAC or MP3 at 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps. See YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance and its advanced encoder settings.
Do not treat the listed minimum as a target for a connection that fluctuates. Measure sustained upload capacity, leave headroom for variation, and test the full setup. Higher resolution and frame rate increase bitrate demands; YouTube also says 2160p/4K does not offer low-latency optimization. If the computer struggles to encode, OBS recommends its Auto Configuration Wizard for establishing basic settings; its help portal links to an x264 guide for further encoder tuning. Avoid choosing a hardware encoder without knowing what the computer supports.

Set up a looping playlist in OBS
- Install VLC. OBS’s VLC Video source requires VLC. If you use 64-bit OBS, OBS documentation says to install 64-bit VLC. Check the OBS Knowledge Base for current source guidance.
- Add the source. In your OBS scene, add a VLC Video source and add the local media files to its playlist.
- Check playback behavior. Loop Playlist is on by default and Shuffle Playlist is off by default. Confirm the order is what you intend, and verify where playback begins and ends.
- Route and test audio. Ensure the source’s audio reaches the stream and that OBS’s audio meters respond. Listen to a test broadcast to check levels, gaps, transitions, and whether the audio stays in sync.
These source settings control playback mechanics only; they do not grant permission to retransmit a song, video, or artwork.
Test before going live
YouTube recommends a preflight test using audio and movement similar to the actual stream, then monitoring stream health during the event. Run the test with the playlist and settings you plan to use rather than relying only on a static preview.

- Confirm permissions for all tracks and visuals, and ask the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting.
- Measure upload capacity and choose an encoder bitrate the connection can reliably sustain.
- Check playlist order, looping, shuffle behavior, and the beginning and end of playback.
- Confirm OBS audio meters show the expected signal, and monitor the test for clipping, silence, or missing audio.
- Inspect YouTube’s preview and stream-health messages before starting the public broadcast.
- During the stream, monitor health messages and copyright warnings. If YouTube identifies a match, stop or remove the identified content promptly; an ongoing match can interrupt or terminate the broadcast.

Stream health is poor or the broadcast buffers
The selected bitrate may exceed what the connection can sustain consistently. Retest upload capacity and lower the bitrate or move to a less demanding format, such as 720p30, then test again. A resolution setting is not useful if the upstream connection cannot carry it reliably.

The playlist will not play or loop
Check that VLC is installed and that the files were added to the VLC Video source’s playlist. Confirm Loop Playlist is enabled and verify the playlist’s end behavior in a test. With 64-bit OBS, use the 64-bit VLC installation specified by OBS documentation.
The stream has no music audio
Check that the media source’s audio is routed to the stream and that the OBS meters move during playback. Monitor a test broadcast to catch a silent source, incorrect routing, or unexpected level problems.

YouTube displays a copyright warning or interrupts the stream
A third-party match can affect a live broadcast even if you believe you have permission. Stop or remove the identified material and contact the rights holder about the permissions and Content ID allowlisting for your channel. Do not assume a license alone prevents an automated interruption.
