What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Start with a full restart: turn off the TV or streaming device, unplug it if possible, leave it off for 15 seconds, then turn it back on and reopen Netflix. If UI-800-2 returns, sign out and sign back in. Netflix says the code usually means data stored on the device is preventing playback—not necessarily that your account or internet service is down. Netflix’s UI-800-2 instructions cover TVs, Blu-ray players, streaming players, set-top boxes, and similar devices.
What does Netflix error UI-800-2 mean?
Netflix associates UI-800-2 with a problem involving data stored on the playback device. It is usually a device-side or app-state issue, rather than proof that your subscription has ended or that Netflix is unavailable. The exact menus and remedy can differ by device brand and software. These steps are for TV-connected devices; phone, tablet, browser, and game-console interfaces may have different instructions.
Try a full restart first
- Turn off the TV or streaming device. If it has a power cable, unplug it.
- Make sure it is fully off, not just in sleep or standby mode.
- Leave it off for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect power if needed, turn the device on, open Netflix, and test playback.
This is Netflix’s first recommended step for UI-800-2 and is less disruptive than signing out or resetting the device. A remote’s power button may put some devices into standby rather than fully restarting them. Netflix’s instructions
Sign out of Netflix and sign back in
If Netflix opens far enough to reach its menu, use the path that matches your screen. Menu labels or placement can vary by device and Netflix interface version.

If the error screen blocks the menu
Select More Details, then choose Sign out or Reset, depending on which option appears. Sign in again if prompted and test Netflix.

Netflix directs Samsung TV and Blu-ray player owners to Samsung for help resetting Smart Hub, upgrading device firmware, or performing a factory reset. Menu names vary by model and software, so use Samsung’s instructions for your exact device rather than a generic menu path. Apple TV
Netflix notes that Apple TV has separate sign-out instructions. Use the Apple TV-specific guidance linked from Netflix’s UI-800-2 page instead of assuming the standard TV menu or remote sequence applies.
Android TV or Google TV
Some models provide app controls such as Clear cache, Clear data, or Force stop. Sony documents these options for relevant Android TV and Google TV models, including steps to clear Netflix cache and, if needed, app data, or force-stop and reopen the app. The controls and paths are model-dependent; do not assume they are available on every brand or TV platform. Clearing app data can sign you out or remove local app information. Sony’s streaming-app troubleshooting instructions
Other smart TVs and streaming players
Netflix does not provide one universal cache-clearing path for all devices. For Roku, Fire TV, LG, and other platforms, consult the device maker’s current instructions for your model before clearing data, changing app settings, or resetting the device.

Restart the home network only if it fits the symptoms
A router restart is a secondary check, not Netflix’s first specific fix for UI-800-2. It is more relevant if other apps also fail, the device has lost its internet connection, or multiple devices have trouble on the same network. Netflix’s general TV and streaming-player troubleshooting steps are:
- Turn off the TV or streaming device.
- Unplug the modem and router.
- Wait 30 seconds, then plug them back in.
- Wait approximately 1 minute for them to reconnect.
- Turn the playback device back on and test Netflix.
Some routers and devices take longer to reconnect. If Netflix is the only app failing, prioritize the UI-800-2 steps instead. Netflix’s general TV and streaming-player troubleshooting
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. When to update software or restore the device
If restarting and signing out do not help, Netflix recommends contacting the device manufacturer about a firmware or software update and, if necessary, restoring the device to its original settings. Ask the manufacturer for the steps for your exact model.

A device-level factory reset is a last resort: it can remove installed apps, saved data, Wi-Fi settings, and other personal settings or account sign-ins. Before starting, make sure you have the Wi-Fi network name and password and Netflix sign-in details. Netflix warns that manufacturer-level steps may remove apps, data, or settings. Netflix’s escalation guidance
How to tell whether the problem is this device or the network
- Netflix works on another device, but not the affected TV or player: that points toward an issue with the affected device’s app, stored data, software, or compatibility. It is a useful clue, not definitive proof.
- Several apps fail on the affected device: check its network connection and consider restarting the home network.
- Netflix fails on multiple devices using the same network: investigate the network or a broader Netflix access problem rather than treating the TV alone as the cause.
These checks narrow down where to focus; they do not guarantee a diagnosis. Netflix’s general TV and streaming-player troubleshooting page includes network steps and escalation to Netflix Customer Service.
When to contact support or use another device
Contact the device manufacturer if you need model-specific firmware, Smart Hub, app, or factory-reset instructions, or if the error persists after Netflix’s initial steps. If the manufacturer cannot resolve the device problem, Netflix advises using another device. You can also contact Netflix Customer Service if the general TV and streaming-player troubleshooting steps do not restore playback.
