How to Export a Spotify Playlist to Apple Music, TXT, or CSV

Choose the route that matches your goal: use Apple Music’s Transfer Music feature to move a playlist directly when it is available in your account; use TuneMyMusic to save Spotify playlist details as a CSV or TXT file; or upload an existing CSV/TXT file to TuneMyMusic to rebuild a playlist in Apple Music. These transfers match songs in Apple Music’s catalog—they do not copy Spotify audio files.

Spotify does not offer a standard consumer-app button to export a playlist as CSV or TXT. A Spotify playlist link shares access to a playlist; it is not a portable spreadsheet backup. To keep a backup, export track metadata before deleting playlists or canceling Spotify.

Before you start

  • For Apple’s built-in transfer: Apple requires an Apple Music subscription, access to a supported, up-to-date device or the Apple Music web app, and sign-in credentials for the source service. Apple also says Sync Library should be enabled on your devices. See Apple’s transfer instructions.
  • Keep Spotify active until you verify the result. A transfer normally creates destination playlists and library entries; it does not remove the source playlist. Soundiiz says its process does not modify or delete the source collection in its Spotify-to-Apple-Music guide.
  • Expect catalog differences. A destination service may not have the same release, remix, live recording, or regional edition. Apple notes that some items may need alternate-version review.
  • Decide whether you need a transfer, a metadata backup, or audio. CSV and TXT exports contain track information and possibly links or identifiers, not playable offline music.

Transfer Spotify playlists directly to Apple Music

Apple documents a built-in transfer flow on iPhone, iPad, Android, and the web. The feature is provided by a third party, and its supported services and menu availability can vary by country, account, device, and app version. If you do not see the transfer option, use a third-party transfer service instead.

On iPhone, iPad, or Android

  1. Open Apple Music and go to the account or profile area.
  2. Open Music Settings or Settings, then choose Transfer Music from Other Music Services.
  3. Select Spotify if it appears in the supported-source list, then sign in to Spotify through the sign-in flow.
  4. Choose the playlists or other available library items to transfer.
  5. Tap Add to Library and review any items marked as needing attention.

On the web

  1. Go to music.apple.com and sign in with the Apple Account used for Apple Music.
  2. Open your profile image or monogram and choose Transfer Music.
  3. Select Spotify if it is offered, sign in, and choose the content to transfer.
  4. Choose Add to Library, then review alternate matches if prompted.

Apple’s documented review period for music needing attention is 30 days from the initial transfer. If Apple Music does not show the feature, check that you are signed in and using an up-to-date app; availability can still depend on your region, platform, account, and supported services. Apple’s current steps and conditions are listed at support.apple.com.

Use TuneMyMusic or Soundiiz if Apple’s option is unavailable

  1. Open the service’s official Spotify-to-Apple-Music workflow.
  2. Choose Spotify as the source and Apple Music as the destination, then authorize each account through its sign-in flow.
  3. Select the playlist or playlists and check the items the service identifies as possible mismatches.
  4. Start the transfer, then open Apple Music and inspect the resulting playlist.

TuneMyMusic’s transfer workflow describes matching tracks against Apple Music and providing a report of missing songs. Soundiiz’s guide documents a similar service-to-service route. Treat playlist order as something to verify: a tool may try to preserve it, but missing tracks, duplicate entries, or destination behavior can affect the final list.

Export a Spotify playlist to CSV

CSV is the more useful choice when you want to sort, filter, deduplicate, edit metadata, or reuse a structured list in another tool. TuneMyMusic provides a Spotify-to-file workflow for exporting selected playlists and other library categories as a downloadable file.

  1. Open TuneMyMusic’s Spotify-to-file page.
  2. Choose Spotify as the source and sign in through the service’s authorization flow.
  3. Select the playlist or library categories you want to export.
  4. Choose CSV as the output format and start the export.
  5. Download the file, open it in a spreadsheet application or text editor, and save a separate backup copy.

The exact CSV columns and their order are not fixed here; inspect the downloaded file rather than assuming a particular layout. When opening it in a spreadsheet, import it as UTF-8 and select comma as the delimiter. Keep quoted fields intact, especially when track or album names contain commas, and avoid changing URLs or ISRC values unless necessary.

Export a Spotify playlist to TXT

Use the same Spotify-to-file workflow, but select TXT instead of CSV before starting the export. Download the resulting file and keep a copy in a secure location.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

TXT is convenient for a readable list or for copying track information into another tool. CSV is usually more suitable when you need separately structured fields for sorting, editing, or machine import. Neither format contains the actual music files.

Import an existing CSV or TXT file into Apple Music

Apple Music’s documented transfer feature imports from supported music services, not arbitrary spreadsheet files. For a CSV or TXT playlist, use a file-conversion service such as TuneMyMusic rather than assuming the standard Apple Music interface can import that file directly. Available file formats and app capabilities can change; TuneMyMusic lists its supported file route at file-to-Apple-Music.

  1. Check that the file has recognizable track information. Title and artist are the essentials; album, a service link, or an ISRC can help distinguish versions.
  2. Open TuneMyMusic’s CSV-to-Apple-Music page for a CSV, or its TXT-to-Apple-Music page for a text file.
  3. Upload the file and sign in to Apple Music through the service’s authorization flow.
  4. Review the playlists and tracks detected in the file, select what you want to import, and start matching.
  5. Check the result report. TuneMyMusic says it uses title, artist, album, and ISRC information when available, and identifies unmatched songs separately.
  6. Search Apple Music manually for missing or incorrect versions and repair the playlist before relying on it.

If a CSV produces no matches, check that it is a metadata list rather than an audio-download list, that each row includes a title and artist, and that the title and artist fields have not been swapped. Confirm the delimiter and encoding, and check whether the first row is being treated as a track.

What transfers—and what does not

The transfer recreates library references using songs available in the destination catalog. Depending on the service and the source content, it may transfer user-created playlists, liked songs, saved albums, followed artists, playlist names, and track order. What can be selected varies by source and tool; Apple says the available content depends on the source service.

  • Not copied: Spotify audio files. A CSV or TXT is metadata, not a music download.
  • Not equivalent to playlist tracks: listening history, playback statistics, recommendations, and Spotify’s editorial or algorithmic behavior.
  • Do not assume support: podcasts, local files, collaborative or editorial playlists, or other nonstandard content. Music playlist-transfer workflows are not a promise that these items will move.
  • May not have a destination match: a track unavailable in Apple Music, including because of regional licensing, removal, or a different edition.

Fix missing, duplicate, or incorrect songs

When a song is missing

  • Check the transfer report for unmatched items.
  • Search Apple Music using the exact artist and title; try the album release rather than a single, or the reverse.
  • Check for regional availability and clean or explicit alternatives.
  • Use an alternate-match or rematch option if the service provides one.
  • If no suitable version is available, record it in a separate “Missing from Apple Music” list so it is not mistaken for a successful match.

When the wrong version was added

  1. Identify whether the mismatch is a live, remix, acoustic, edit, remastered, or explicit/clean version.
  2. Search Apple Music for the exact release or version name.
  3. Remove the incorrect match and add the intended version to the playlist.
  4. Compare the final playlist count with the source.

When duplicates appear

Duplicates can reflect repeated songs in the original playlist, different editions selected by the matcher, or a second run after a partial transfer. Compare source and destination counts, remove an incomplete destination playlist before retrying, and deduplicate the CSV before importing if needed. Soundiiz lists duplicate-management features on its features and pricing page.

When a CSV looks garbled

Import it into a spreadsheet instead of opening it by double-clicking; choose UTF-8 encoding and comma as the delimiter. Preserve quoted fields containing commas. If an import finds no tracks, also check for swapped title/artist columns, a misread header row, unsupported delimiters, or an empty file.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Verify the copy before relying on it

  • Compare the number of tracks in each important playlist.
  • Check a few tracks near the beginning, middle, and end to catch order changes.
  • Review the report for missing matches and inspect alternate versions.
  • Keep the original Spotify playlist and a separate CSV/TXT backup until the Apple Music version is complete.
