Netflix announced a new documentary about Argentine musician Charly García on October 23, 2026, the day he turned 75. The film is reportedly in production and will have García tell his own story while examining the lasting impact of his work. Netflix has not announced a release date; its only timing indication so far is “próximamente” (“coming soon”).
What did Netflix announce about the Charly García documentary?
The announcement concerns a documentary project, not a finished film or a premiere. Reports published between October 23 and October 26, 2026, describe production as underway and identify Netflix as the announced platform.
The timing linked the news to García’s 75th birthday. The teaser phrase attributed to García was “Ahora sí, Charly por Charly,” which translates as “Now, Charly by Charly.” It signals a first-person account, although Netflix has not published a complete synopsis or detailed production plan.
What will the documentary cover?
Available coverage says the documentary will center on García telling his own story and will explore how his work has affected audiences over time. Those are the confirmed elements of the announced approach; reports do not specify which periods of his life will receive the most attention.

No details have been announced about the archive, the number or identity of additional interview participants, the runtime, or the final selection of performances and recordings. Those omissions matter because a production announcement cannot establish what will appear in the completed edit.
Who is making the film?
Alejandro Hartmann is named as director, with Haddock Films producing. Vanessa Ragone, a producer and director at Haddock Films, described the assignment this way: “Producir un documental sobre la figura que considero más icónica de la música nacional, cuya obra ha sido y es la banda sonora de mi vida, es una oportunidad extraordinaria” (“Producing a documentary about the figure I consider the most iconic in national music, whose work has been and is the soundtrack of my life, is an extraordinary opportunity”).

The comments explain the filmmakers’ stated perspective, but they do not confirm the film’s interview list or narrative structure.
When does the Charly García documentary premiere on Netflix?
A release date had not been announced in the reporting available through October 26, 2026. “Coming soon” is a promotional indication, not a dated release window, so viewers cannot yet determine the month, country-by-country availability, or whether the launch will be simultaneous worldwide.
