- Extended highlights: Manchester City’s official YouTube channel published an extended edit.
Highlights are shorter than a full-match replay. If you want the entire 90 minutes and stoppage time, use a page specifically labeled as a full-match replay rather than a highlights video.

How the match was originally shown in the UK for free
UK viewers could watch the final on both of the country’s main free-to-air networks:
- BBC: BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The BBC reported that Football Focus began at noon, with live match coverage from 1:50 p.m.
- ITV: ITV1 and ITVX. ITV’s schedule listed coverage from 1:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.; its official press listing confirms the transmission.
Regional services included UTV in Northern Ireland and STV/STV Player in Scotland, subject to the relevant regional schedule. Manchester City’s worldwide TV listing and its kickoff announcement confirmed the BBC and ITV arrangements.
What free meant in the UK
Free-to-air meant that viewers did not need to buy a separate match or sports subscription. It did not mean that every legal obligation disappeared:
- BBC iPlayer required a BBC account and a UK location.
- A UK TV licence was required to watch live television or use BBC iPlayer. See TV Licensing’s BBC iPlayer guidance and its explanation of live-streaming requirements.
- ITVX required viewers to create or use a free account. ITV explains why an account was required and how to access live TV on ITVX.
- ITVX was intended for viewers in the UK and could reject connections that appeared to come from outside the country.
The original live rights have expired. BBC iPlayer and ITVX should not be expected to carry the 2024 final now simply because they showed it live at the time.

How viewers in the United States watched
ESPN+ was the exclusive official U.S. destination for the final. ESPN announced English and Spanish coverage, with pregame programming from 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time and kickoff at 10:00 a.m. ET, or 7:00 a.m. PT.

For a historical price reference only, ESPN+ was advertised at $10.99 per month or $109.99 per year in May 2024. Those figures are not current pricing. A standard ESPN cable subscription alone should not be assumed to have included this ESPN+ exclusive event.
There was no free official U.S. broadcast identified in the rights announcement. The old ESPN+ live listing may now redirect, show an on-demand replay or no longer be available.

Australia: why listings differed
Australian rights require particular care. Paramount Australia’s May 2024 announcement said the FA Cup final was live on Paramount+. However, the FA’s global Where to Watch document separately listed Network 10. The most defensible wording is therefore that Paramount+ was the confirmed Australian streaming destination in Paramount’s own event announcement, while free Network 10 or 10Play access should not be inferred without checking the original local schedule.

Kickoff times around the world
The match kicked off at 3:00 p.m. British Summer Time on Saturday, May 25, 2024. The main conversion points were:
- United States: 10:00 a.m. ET / 7:00 a.m. PT on Saturday.
- India: 7:30 p.m. IST on Saturday.
- Australia: midnight AEST at the Saturday-to-Sunday changeover.
- New Zealand: 2:00 a.m. NZST on Sunday, May 26.
These date changes are easy to miss: the match was a Saturday evening event in India, but a Sunday-morning event in New Zealand and just after midnight in eastern Australia.
Other countries and territories
There was no single worldwide free stream. Broadcasters could differ between neighboring countries and could change from one FA Cup season to the next. For markets not listed above, consult the FA’s official global Where to Watch document or Manchester City’s country-by-country listing.
Do not assume that a UK broadcaster was legally available in the Republic of Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or another nearby territory. Confirm the service and its territorial terms for the viewer’s actual location.
VPNs, location restrictions and unofficial streams
Some streaming guides promoted a VPN as a way for viewers abroad to appear to be in the UK. That is not a guaranteed or automatically authorized solution. BBC terms restrict use of iPlayer content outside the UK where the viewer is not permitted to access it, and ITVX is geo-restricted and may block VPN or proxy connections. A VPN can also trigger location errors or prevent playback. It should not be presented as a universal legal workaround for a country that did not have UK rights. The practical choice is to use the licensed broadcaster for the viewer’s country, where one exists.

Unofficial “free stream” websites are not included here. Apart from copyright concerns, they commonly carry unstable video, aggressive pop-ups, phishing attempts or malware. An official broadcaster, league channel or club platform is the safer route.

BBC iPlayer says the event is unavailable
- Confirm that you are in the UK and that the BBC account is signed in.
- Turn off VPNs, proxies and network-level location tools.
- Check the live-TV or sports listing rather than searching only the expired event title.
- Remember that the final’s original rights window has ended; a missing listing may be normal.
ITVX reports a location or playback error
- Use the ITVX website or supported app and open the Live section.
- Disable VPNs, proxies and ad blockers temporarily.
- Sign in to the free ITVX account.
- Check ITV’s guidance for the outside-UK error and its ITV-101 troubleshooting page.
- If the match is no longer in the catalogue, use an official replay or highlights source instead.
The replay page asks for payment
That does not necessarily indicate a problem. A full-match replay may require CITY+, SonyLIV access or another subscription even though the original UK live broadcast was free-to-air. Check whether the page offers a full match, highlights or only a match report before paying.
The price is different from the article
Subscription prices change. The ESPN+, Sportsnet Now and Sky Sport Now figures above describe what contemporaneous May 2024 guides reported; they must not be treated as current prices. Use the provider’s own checkout page for the current amount, billing terms and cancellation policy.
Spoiler: result and key moments
Manchester United won the final 2–1. Alejandro Garnacho scored in the 30th minute, Kobbie Mainoo added United’s second in the 39th minute, and Jeremy Doku pulled one back for Manchester City in the 87th minute. The Premier League match report records the result and scorers.
