First announced under that working title’s longer variant, Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar is listed by Apple TV in the UK as a 2024 documentary-biography.
What is the Elizabeth Taylor docuseries?
Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar is a three-part documentary about the actor’s life and career. BBC Arts commissioned it, Passion Pictures produced it, and Fremantle is identified as its international distributor. The original announcement described Kardashian as someone who would “produce and star”; the production credits identify her more precisely as an executive producer who also appears on screen. ABC News reported the announcement, while Passion Pictures’ production post gives the production credits.
What does the series cover?
Apple TV’s UK catalogue describes three episodes, each 45 minutes long, tracing Taylor’s life through successive phases. Its synopsis offers the following outline:
| Episode | Focus described in the catalogue |
|---|---|
| “Fame” | Taylor’s childhood and early Hollywood career, her rise to stardom, and the public image shaped by MGM. |
| “Passion” | A period of personal scandal, her Cleopatra contract, and her relationship with co-star Richard Burton amid growing paparazzi attention. Apple TV’s synopsis gives the contract figure as $1 million. |
| “Freedom” | Her later reinvention and health struggles, followed by her response to a deadly disease outbreak, which the synopsis frames as the start of her celebrity activism. |
These are the catalogue’s episode summaries, not an independent assessment of every historical detail or interpretation. Apple TV also advertises exclusive interviews and previously unheard audio tapes. Apple TV’s UK listing names James House as director and includes contributors such as Sharon Stone, Joan Collins, George Hamilton, Paris Jackson, Margaret O’Brien, and Anthony Fauci.

What was Kardashian’s role?
Kardashian is credited as an executive producer and is also featured on screen. Passion Pictures lists Kari Lia and Hamish Fergusson alongside Kardashian as executive producers; James House is the series director, and Jemma Chisnall is the series producer. The announcement attributes this comment to Kardashian: “Elizabeth Taylor was unapologetically herself, a fighter,” she said. “She is proof that you can keep evolving and changing and have different chapters in your life — and she paved the way for all of us who came after her with that blueprint.”

The original announcement said the documentary was expected on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer. That was an announcement-era plan, not confirmation of current availability. Apple TV’s UK catalogue lists the series, but a catalogue page alone does not establish that it is currently streamable in every country or that Apple TV is its only viewing option. Check the relevant service in your country for present access. The listing credits BBC Two as studio and says the title is © 2024 Passion Pictures, under exclusive licence to Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment Ltd.; those catalogue details do not establish a physical release.
