No. Crave and HBO Max are separate streaming services. In Canada, Crave is the exclusive Canadian home of HBO and carries many Max Originals, but it does not provide the HBO Max app, account, or a guaranteed copy of that service’s full catalog.
What Crave is—and how it relates to HBO
Crave is a Canadian streaming and television service operated by Bell Media. Bell describes it as the exclusive Canadian home of HBO and Max Originals through its partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery. Its programming also includes Crave Originals, Showtime programming, movies, French-language content, and other offerings. Bell’s partnership announcement and current Crave programming description outline that relationship.
The names refer to different things: HBO is a programming brand; Max Originals are programs associated with Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max service; HBO Max is a streaming platform; and Crave is a separate Canadian platform that distributes HBO and many Max programs. Crave is not owned by HBO Max.
Crave markets itself as HBO’s exclusive home in Canada, but that does not mean every HBO title stays available indefinitely. Libraries change as rights and licensing arrangements change. Crave’s HBO Canada positioning describes the Canadian offering.

Is HBO Max available in Canada?
Canada is not listed among the countries where HBO Max is available on the official availability page checked August 16, 2026. The United States is listed. The page says additional regions may be added in 2026 and beyond, so this is a statement about the published list on that date—not a prediction that availability can never change. For Canadian viewers looking for HBO programming, Crave is the official local route described by Bell and Crave. Crave is a Canadian service, and its app listing says it is available only in Canada. Do not assume a Canadian subscription will work normally while you are in the United States, or that a U.S. HBO Max subscription will stream normally in Canada. HBO Max says streaming is unavailable when a subscriber travels to a country where the service is not available, although previously downloaded content may remain playable in some circumstances. Does Crave have every HBO Max show?
No. Crave carries many HBO and Max titles, not a guaranteed complete copy of HBO Max. Each service has a regional catalog shaped by local rights, release timing, and licensing deals. A title on HBO Max in the United States may be missing from Crave in Canada, arrive later, or be distributed through a different Canadian service.

If a title is missing, possible reasons include:
- Its Canadian rights belong to another broadcaster or service.
- It has not reached its Canadian release date or is temporarily unavailable.
- It is offered through a different access point, such as a live channel rather than on-demand viewing.
- Your provider package does not include a relevant add-on or access feature.
- The service interface does not make the HBO or Max branding easy to find.
Search for the title in the Canadian service rather than relying on its U.S. listing. Confirm whether it is on-demand or live, whether an add-on or particular access route is required, and whether the listing is current. Crave’s catalog and rights can change.

Crave can be purchased directly or accessed through participating TV, mobile, and channel providers. Billing, activation, device support, package names, and add-ons can differ by route. Which service should you choose?
- You live in Canada and want HBO or many Max Originals: Start with Crave’s current Canadian catalog and plan options. It is the Canadian service Bell identifies as HBO’s and Max Originals’ exclusive home.
- You live in the United States or another supported HBO Max market: HBO Max is the relevant service if you want that market’s app and catalog. Crave is not the normal U.S. alternative.
- You want Canadian originals, French-language programming, or other Bell-related offerings: Crave has programming beyond HBO and Max titles.
- You need one specific film or series: Check its current availability in your country before subscribing; neither service guarantees the other’s full catalog.
- You already subscribe through a TV, mobile, or Prime Video account: Compare the current package and access details. A channel or provider route is still a Crave subscription, not HBO Max.
