Why the old NBC schedule no longer applies
During the Games, NBC’s U.S. schedule listed live coverage from 3–6 p.m. Eastern Time on August 11, followed by an enhanced encore from 7–10 p.m. Eastern/Pacific Time on NBC and Peacock. Those were historical broadcast times, not a current timetable.
NBC’s streaming access also was not universally free. Viewers generally needed a Peacock subscription or authentication through a participating cable or television provider for NBC’s digital streams. That makes the official Olympics YouTube upload the more practical free option for watching the ceremony now.
