You cannot keep an OBS-sent YouTube stream going by closing OBS: the encoder must keep sending video. To leave the OBS computer off, either use a different encoder on a computer that stays on or move prerecorded-story playback and streaming to a cloud service. Choose how the stories will keep playing
First decide whether this is a prerecorded story loop or a genuinely live performance. A cloud service described for prerecorded video can keep uploaded stories playing, but it is not automatically a substitute for a live narrator, camera, or interactive production.

YouTube’s listing establishes Gyre as a category fit, but does not establish its current price, independent reliability, or every feature you may need. Check any provider’s media limits, looping and scheduling behavior, stream-health alerts, permissions, recovery behavior, and price before depending on it.
Prepare the channel and story material
Confirm that the channel can livestream
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days, and says streamers must be at least 16. First-time live streaming may take up to 24 hours to enable, so do not leave setup until the intended start time. Check the channel’s eligibility in YouTube Studio before configuring a broadcast.

Check rights and audience settings
Confirm that you have the rights to broadcast every element: the story text, narration, music, sound effects, and illustrations or video. Copyright matches or strikes can restrict a live stream. A story being intended for children does not by itself establish that you own or may stream its underlying material.
Set the audience designation accurately in YouTube Studio. If the stream is designated made for kids, YouTube disables live chat and chat replay, comments on archives and upcoming streams, Super Chat, and reminder notifications for upcoming streams. Personalized ads are disabled, although contextual ads may still appear.

Set up the YouTube stream and a local encoder
This is the do-it-yourself route if OBS itself will be closed: use another encoder on a computer that remains powered, connected, and running. It could be another OBS installation or other encoder software. The local encoder still has to send the video; simply switching software does not remove the need for an active machine.
- Create or schedule the YouTube broadcast. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule the stream. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup flow and note the stream URL and stream key shown for that broadcast.
- Prepare a continuous playback source. Load the prerecorded story videos or playlist in the encoder or playback workflow you have chosen. Confirm that the intended order, transitions, and audio are correct before going live. The exact playlist and looping controls vary by encoder, so verify them in that software rather than assuming YouTube will replay a stopped encoder.
- Configure the encoder. Enter the YouTube stream URL and stream key into the encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to that stream. Do not publish it or share it with people who do not need access.
- Start sending the feed and check the preview. Start the encoder, then wait for the preview in Live Control Room. Check that video and sound arrive as intended and that YouTube reports the stream as available before going live. YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop controls act through the encoder; they do not keep a closed encoder running.
- Go live and monitor the first run. Watch the stream health and check the audio and picture. Keep the encoder computer and its network connection available for the whole broadcast. If the machine sleeps, loses power, loses internet, or the encoder stops, the local feed can stop too.
Plan for a usable archive
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If a complete replay matters, split very long programming into shorter sessions and keep a separate recording or local archive backup. Do not assume a continuous 24/7 broadcast will produce one complete YouTube replay.

Common problems and fixes
- The stream stops when OBS closes. That is expected if OBS was the encoder sending the feed. Restart an encoder that remains running, or move prerecorded playback and encoding to a cloud service.
- YouTube does not show a preview. Confirm that the encoder is running, that it has the correct stream URL and key for this broadcast, and that it is sending video. Check Live Control Room for stream availability before going live.
- The encoder cannot go live. Check channel verification and livestream eligibility, including whether the channel has a restriction from the prior 90 days. If livestreaming was just enabled for the first time, YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours.
- The broadcast is interrupted by a rights issue. Review rights for the story, narration, music, and visual material. A copyright match or strike can restrict a live stream; changing the encoder will not resolve a rights problem.
- The replay is missing or incomplete. YouTube warns that streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured. Use shorter sessions when the YouTube archive is important and preserve a separate recording.
- Viewers cannot chat or comment. Check the audience designation. For streams marked made for kids, YouTube disables chat and chat replay, as well as comments on archives and upcoming streams.
