If you mean every piece of music credited as playing in the film, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has 14 entries, according to TheWrap’s 2024 credits list. The official commercial soundtrack is a separate 11-track release from WaterTower Music, while Danny Elfman’s standalone score album contains 29 instrumental cues. Those lists overlap, but they are not interchangeable: five pieces credited in the film do not appear on the 11-track commercial album, and the score album is made up primarily of Elfman’s original cues rather than licensed songs.

The guide below separates the three catalogs so you can identify what you heard, which performer or version was used, and which release contains it.

Why are there three different Beetlejuice Beetlejuice music lists?

“Soundtrack” can refer to three different things here. A film-credit list records every song or archival music cue identified as being heard in the movie. A commercial soundtrack album collects selected songs and themes for listening outside the film. A score album presents the composer’s instrumental music, including cues that may never be marketed as songs.

TheWrap’s 2024 list is the broadest answer to “What songs are in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice?” It contains 14 credited entries. WaterTower Music’s commercial album, released September 6, 2024, has 11 tracks. WaterTower’s Danny Elfman score album, released October 25, 2024, has 29 cues. Treating one list as a replacement for another leaves out music or incorrectly labels score material as a pop song.

What are all 14 songs and music credits heard in the film?

The following table reproduces the broad in-film credit list reported by TheWrap in 2024. It includes licensed recordings, a classical excerpt, an archival cue and music that is not included on the commercial album.

In-film credit Performer or credited source Type or version note
“MacArthur Park” Donna Summer Single recording
“Margaritaville” Jimmy Buffett Licensed song
“Tragedy” Bee Gees Licensed song
“Day-O” Alfie Davis and the Sylvia Young Theatre School Choir Choral performance; the song returns from the earlier film
“Lucia di Lammermoor, Act 1: ‘Regnava nel silenzio alta la notte e bruna’” Maria Callas Opera excerpt
“Somedays” Tess Parks Licensed song
“Cry, Cry” Mazzy Star Licensed song
“Where’s the Man” Scott Weiland Licensed song
“TV Spot” from Beetlejuice Danny Elfman Archival cue from the 1988 film
“Right Here Waiting” Richard Marx Licensed song
“Svefn-G-Englar” Sigur Rós Licensed song
“Soul Train Theme (Scat Version)” The Soul Train Gang Television theme recording
“Carrie – Main Title” Pino Donaggio Film-score cue from Carrie
“MacArthur Park” Richard Harris Different recording from Donna Summer’s version

Two entries require special attention. “MacArthur Park” appears twice because the film credits both Donna Summer’s and Richard Harris’s recordings; they are not alternate titles for one track. “Day-O” is credited to Alfie Davis and the Sylvia Young Theatre School Choir, and TheWrap specifically notes that the song returns in the sequel.

Which of those film credits are missing from the 11-track commercial soundtrack?

WaterTower Music’s 11-track album is curated rather than exhaustive. It omits “Margaritaville,” the Maria Callas Lucia di Lammermoor excerpt, Mazzy Star’s “Cry, Cry,” Danny Elfman’s archival “TV Spot” cue from the 1988 film, and “Soul Train Theme (Scat Version).” Those five remain valid in-film credits even though they are absent from the commercial release.

Track Artist What to know
“MacArthur Park (Single Version)” Donna Summer The Donna Summer recording; the album identifies it as the single version
“Tragedy” Bee Gees Licensed song
“Day-O” Alfie Davis and the Sylvia Young Theatre School Choir The returning song’s credited film performance
“Somedays” Tess Parks Licensed song
“Where’s the Man” Scott Weiland Licensed song
“Right Here Waiting” Richard Marx Licensed song
“Svefn-g-englar” Sigur Rós Capitalization differs slightly from TheWrap’s “Svefn-G-Englar” listing
“MacArthur Park” Richard Harris The second “MacArthur Park” recording
“Main Title from CARRIE” Pino Donaggio Album title for the Carrie main-title cue
“Main Title Theme (From Beetlejuice Beetlejuice)” Danny Elfman Original score theme
“End Titles (From Beetlejuice Beetlejuice)” Danny Elfman Original score end-title cue

The album therefore combines licensed songs with two Elfman score tracks and the Donaggio Carrie cue. It should not be read as a scene-by-scene inventory of everything audible in the movie.

What is on Danny Elfman’s 29-cue score album?

WaterTower Music released a separate Danny Elfman score album on October 25, 2024. Its 29 tracks are instrumental score cues, not an additional list of pop songs. The titles, in album order, are:

  1. “Main Title Theme”
  2. “Ghost Host”
  3. “Plane Crash”
  4. “Boo”
  5. “Going to Beetlejuice”
  6. “Day-O”
  7. “Ghost That Matters”
  8. “Ex-Wife’s Back”
  9. “Gallery Performance”
  10. “Obituary”
  11. “The Attic”
  12. “In the Model”
  13. “Ghost Story”
  14. “Snake Ceremony”
  15. “Beetlejuice Returns”
  16. “You Agreed to Swap Lives”
  17. “Saturn”
  18. “Out of Luck”
  19. “Delia Calls Beetlejuice”
  20. “Selfies Gone Wrong”
  21. “Dolores Interrupts”
  22. “Beetlejuice Balloons”
  23. “Delia Departs”
  24. “What’s That?”
  25. “End Titles”
  26. “Waiting Room (More of a Dog Person)”
  27. “Waiting Room (Delia)”
  28. “Waiting Room (You’re Dead, Ok?)”
  29. “Waiting Room (Bonus Track)”

“Day-O” appears in the score-cue titles as well as in the film-credit and commercial-album lists. The shared title does not mean the entries are identical recordings: the commercial soundtrack credits the Alfie Davis and Sylvia Young Theatre School Choir performance, while the score album presents Elfman’s cue catalog. Likewise, “Main Title Theme” and “End Titles” on the score album are the expanded score context behind the shorter commercial-album selections.

Which tracks are songs, which are score cues, and which are archival music?

Use the category that matches what you are trying to find. If you want a vocal or recognizable licensed recording, start with the in-film table or the 11-track commercial album. If you want Elfman’s underscore, use the 29-cue score album. If you are checking a credit list for every audible piece, include the archival and television-related entries as well.

Category What it includes Where it is documented
Licensed songs Recordings such as “Tragedy,” “Somedays,” “Cry, Cry,” “Right Here Waiting” and both versions of “MacArthur Park” Broad in-film credits; several also appear on the commercial album
Classical and film music Maria Callas’s Lucia di Lammermoor excerpt and Pino Donaggio’s “Carrie – Main Title” In-film credits; Donaggio’s cue is also on the commercial album
Television or archival material “Soul Train Theme (Scat Version)” and Elfman’s “TV Spot” from the 1988 Beetlejuice In-film credits only, not the 11-track commercial album
Original score Elfman’s instrumental themes and narrative cues, including the waiting-room tracks 29-cue score album; two related selections also appear on the commercial soundtrack

What physical editions were announced for the official soundtrack?

The official commercial soundtrack has documented CD and 2xLP vinyl editions. Waxwork describes the CD as the official soundtrack in jewel-case packaging, while the vinyl edition is a two-record set. WaterTower Music stated that the full soundtrack was streaming and that the 2xLP and CD formats were available for pre-order through its physical-release partners.

Physical availability, price and retailer stock can change, so the edition description is more stable than any particular listing. The format information applies to the official 11-track commercial soundtrack, not automatically to every release of Elfman’s 29-cue score.

Can you identify exact scenes or timestamps from these credits?

No scene-by-scene timestamps are established by the cited credits, so a reliable guide should not assign minute-and-second positions. The safest identification method is to compare the performer and title: for example, distinguish Donna Summer’s “MacArthur Park” from Richard Harris’s recording, and distinguish the choir performance of “Day-O” from Elfman’s score cue with the same title.

Titles can also vary slightly between sources. “Svefn-G-Englar” in TheWrap’s list appears as “Svefn-g-englar” on the WaterTower album, and “Carrie – Main Title” is rendered as “Main Title from CARRIE” on that album. These are cataloging differences, not evidence of extra recordings.

How should you choose the right list?

  • Trying to remember a song heard during the movie: check all 14 in-film credits, including the five entries omitted from the commercial album.
  • Building a playlist from an official release: use WaterTower Music’s 11-track commercial soundtrack.
  • Looking for Danny Elfman’s instrumental writing: use the 29-cue score album and its waiting-room bonus track.
  • Buying a physical copy: look specifically for the official soundtrack CD or 2xLP edition, because those formats refer to the commercial album rather than automatically covering every film credit.

This separation gives the most complete answer without implying that a curated album contains every piece of music used in the finished film.
